Chapter 14
Brittany's POV
"Good morning from Sydney, guys!" I said as I filmed for today's vlog. Ashton, Calum, Chelsea, and I were all in Ashton's rental on our way to Milo's. "It's date morning! That's right, I'm going on a date with Ashton Irwin! Can y'all believe it?!"
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around it," Chelsea said. "How close are we?"
"Couple minutes," Ashton said, concentrating on the road. I focused the camera on him as he spoke. "You girls will love it. They have coffee, donuts, and other pastries; the donuts are delicious!"
"So, I'm not going to film any of the date, but I'll keep you updated!" I said as I refocused on myself. "Later!"
I turned the camera off just as Ashton pulled into the Milo's parking lot. He parked, and each of the guys got out and opened one of the back doors for us. We then followed them inside.
"So, what do you fancy?" Ashton asked me, gesturing towards the display case.
I perused the case for a few minutes, unsure of which donut to get, until I found a chocolate one with pink frosting and sprinkles on top. "I'll have two of those," I said, pointing at what I wanted.
"I'll have the same," Chelsea added.
"So, four chocolate with pink frosting and sprinkles and four glazed, please," Ashton told the barista.
"And coffee?" she asked.
"Do you make mocha swirls?" I asked.
"We sure do, hon!"
"And I'll have a chai latte," Chelsea said.
"And we'll both have a tall frap," Ashton said, speaking for himself and Calum.
"Excellent!" the barista said, punching in the order. "What's the name on the order?"
"Fletcher."
Ashton finished the transaction, and we sat down to wait for our drinks and donuts.
"How long have you and Chelsea been friends?" Ashton asked me.
"A couple years," I said. "We met when I needed a sitter for my daughter."
"Oh, really?" Calum said. "How old is she?"
"She's three; her name's Alexis, and she has a little brother named Everett who just turned one."
"I have a kid, too," Chelsea chimed in. "She's about Everett's age and her name is Teagan."
"Can we see pictures?"
"Sure," I said, opening the picture gallery on my phone. I showed the guys, the picture of Alexis holding Everett for the first time. "This was when Everett was born; Alexis was so excited to be a big sister."
Ashton laughed. "I can tell by her expression, and she definitely gets her good looks from you."
I blushed. "Aw, thanks!"
"Order for Fletcher?" the barista called.
Ashton got up, went up to the counter to pay, and returned with our breakfast.
"Here we are!" he announced.
"Ooh, yummy!" I said, taking a sip of my coffee and a bite of my donut.
"So you needed a sitter and ended up hiring Chelsea?" Calum said, prompting me to finish my story.
"Yeah, it was a last-minute thing. My ex and I had plans for a date that night, and our sitter backed out at the last minute. Luckily, her brother had connections."
"The original babysitter's brother happened to be my own ex," Chelsea added. "I got the call just as we were finishing dinner, but I was more than happy to oblige."
"And why did you break up?" Calum asked Chelsea. "I'm curious."
"He actually died. He'd been in a fatal car accident when I was pregnant with Teagan."
"Oh...my condolences!"
"It's alright. He'd want me to move on, so here I am!"
