Chapter 24

London, Ashton's POV

We had just gotten back from a recording session for our debut album when there was a ping on my phone. Hoping it was a notification from Brittany, I turned on the display. Sure enough, she'd just posted a new video—a gender reveal.

"What are you looking at, Ash?" Luke asked.

"Oh, Brittany just posted a gender reveal video," I said. "I'm about to find out if my twins are boys or girls!"

"Or one of each. That'd be fun! Can I watch?"

"Sure."

I tapped on the video and set it to landscape orientation so both Luke and I could see it. It started out in black and white, with dramatic music in the background. It appeared to be a water balloon fight, and there were two teams, one with Brittany and Alexis and the other with Chelsea and Heather.

The first minute of the video was in slow motion as Brittany threw the first balloon; as a result, it landed on Chelsea's shirt, splattering water all over it. Then, Heather took one from her bucket and threw it at Alexis. This continued until the video finally switched to color and the music to an instrumental version of "Out of my Limit". That was when I realized all the balloons were pink. Brittany was having twin girls!

"Bloody hell, I'm having two little girls!" I cried.

"Sure looks like it," Luke said. "Congrats, mate!"

Luke gave me a pat on the back and left me alone.

"There you have it, y'all!" Brittany was saying in the video after the fight was done. "I'm having twin girls! If you're watching this, Ashton...call me!"

I exited out of YouTube and dialed Brittany's cell phone number. When it was picked up, I heard, "Who dis?"

I laughed, knowing this was Alexis. "Hey, it's Ashton! Can you give the phone to your mummy, please?"

"Okay."

Cookeville, Brittany's POV

"Mommy, Ashen on da phone!" Alexis called from the living room. Afraid she'd hang up on him, I bolted into the room and grabbed the phone. Luckily, he was still there.

"Ashton?" I said.

"Hello, Brittany," Ashton said. "I saw your video. Congratulations!"

"Thank you," I said. "I just found out yesterday, and I couldn't wait! How was your day?"

"It was good; we got a lot of recording done. Speaking of which, I wrote a song about you and I'd love it if you'd have a listen."

I gasped with excitement. "Oh, my God, you didn't!"

"I sure did! Let me put you on speaker."

Ashton put me on speakerphone, and I heard papers rustling before he spoke again. "Found it! Are you ready?"

"Yep. Hit it!"

Ashton cleared his throat, and then I heard a catchy, upbeat melody as he sang.

"How do you like it?" Ashton asked when he was done.

"I love it! You're very sweet, Ash."

"And so are you. Say hello to Alexis for me, would you?"

"Sure thing."
