Chapter 12

Brittany's POV

During the concert, I filmed most of 5 Seconds of Summer's set, which included Ashton calling me and Heather up to announce our pregnancies. Ashton even threw me a pair of his drumsticks at one point.

After their set was over, I checked my phone for messages. There was a missed call from Mom, so since I was gonna wish Everett happy birthday anyway, I video called her while still filming.

"Hey, darlin'!" Mom said when she popped up on the screen. "How's the concert?"

"It's awesome!" I said. "Did you call me?"

"Yeah, because Everett just took his first step!"

I gasped. "Oh, my God, and I missed it! I'm so sorry!"

"You couldn't help it. I can try to get him to do it again if you want."

"I'd love that."

Mom's camera panned over to Everett, who was sitting on the floor with a toy truck. "Everett, c'mon over to Gramma!"

Everett looked at Mom, pulled himself up, and attempted to walk. He ended up falling on his ass a couple times, but the third time, he made it all the way to Mom's arms.

"Everett!" I exclaimed. "Did you just take your first step on your birthday?! You're such a big boy!"

Hearing my voice, Everett reached for the phone and pressed his face against the screen. I was very amused by this.

"You're silly! Happy birthday, Mr. One-Year-Old!"

Everett babbled happily and clapped, obviously pleased to see his mommy on the other end of the call.

"Mommy has to go, okay? She's gonna give you something special when she gets home!"

Everett started to whimper, and then it turned into crying. This broke my heart, but I knew I had to end the call soon so I could enjoy the rest of the concert. I told Mom to give Alexis my love and disconnected.

After the concert, Heather, Chelsea, and I were invited backstage to hang out with the guys, which we gladly accepted.

The dressing room was bigger than my bedroom, and it held a big couch, a couple of chairs, a vanity, a closet, and other things. When he saw me, Ashton gave me a hug.

"Who's the other girl? I didn't catch her name," he asked.

"Oh, this is Chelsea," I introduced. "We're housemates."

"Housemates? I thought you were still with Darren?"

"Well, we kinda had a falling out, so we're not together anymore."

"Hot damn!" Ashton cheered, making a victorious fist gesture.

"I'm sorry?"

"Brittany, I've been waiting for you to break up with him! I've got something to confess. Let's sit down."

Ashton led me to the couch, and we sat down and faced each other. "Look, I know it was just a one-off deal, but I've started having feelings for you. I think we should see each other more often."

My heart stopped for a second. "Did you just say...?"

"Yes! What do you say we meet for coffee in the morning?"

"You don't know if I have feelings for YOU yet," I teased.

"Are we playing hard to get?"

"Nah, I'm just kidding. I feel the same way, actually. About a month after we had that one-night stand, I started thinking about you more and more. And then I found out I was having twins, and I knew I couldn't raise them alone."

"Awesome! So, how about that date? Actually, let's make it a double date; looks like Calum's got the hots for your housemate."

I looked over my shoulder and saw Calum and Chelsea sitting on the other end of the couch, happily chatting away. "Sure, I like coffee. Where's a good place to get some?"

"How about Milo's?" Luke chimed in. "That place is pretty good."

"What's that?" I asked Ashton.

"I'll show you in the morning," he told me. "What hotel are you staying at? I'll pick you up around seven."

"The Regency. It's about a half hour from here."

"I know exactly where that is!"

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Michael answered it to reveal a security guard.

"Limo's here, girls," she said.

"Okay, thanks," I said, giving Ashton a goodbye hug.

Heather's POV

We were almost to the limo when I heard Michael calling my name. I turned around and saw him walking towards me.

"Wouldn't you fancy a date?" he asked me.

I looked Michael up and down. Even though I'd agreed to have sex with him, I've come to realize Michael wasn't my type—too punk rock-ish. But then, he did look adorable with that eyebrow stud and dyed red hair.

"I don't see why not. What did you have in mind?"

"I thought we'd take a walk on the beach and look at the sunrise."

"Ooh, that sounds fun! Pick me up at the Regency before dawn."

"Splendid! I'll be there. Goodnight, girls!"

"Bye."
