The door opened and Judy looked up from the table to see Nick closing the door behind him. She gave him a look of disgust which Nick shook off instantly and returned to looking back down at the table.
He read her student record. She knew it. And now he knew everything about her past. Everything that she wouldn't want anyone - let alone a fox - to know about.
Why was she even here? What was the point of treating her like some little irresponsible kid after everything she had been through? Granted that Nick has no idea of her checkered past up until a few minutes ago, but it wouldn't hurt to at least treat her nicely and not like some rebellious high school student...even though she kind of was...
"Judy? Hey," Nick spoke softly from the other side of the table, causing Judy to look up.
He'd called her by her first name, and not just "Carrots"...
"Right, I wanna get through this, you wanna get through this. So, how about we help eachother out here and just answer these questions with-"
"Why are you being so nice to me?" Judy suddenly asked, cutting Nick off.
Nick blinked in surprise. "What?"
"Why are you being so nice to me?" She repeated. "Nothing's changed; for all I know, I'm still a dumb bunny and you're still a sly fox. So, why are you being so nice to me?"
Nick was silent for a moment, his mind whizzing with different answers.
"I'm not being nice," he lied. "I'm just trying to make you feel comfortable, it's my job. Anyway-"
"You called me Judy, and not just "Carrots". I'd call that being nice," Judy replied, smiling a little.
Nick sighed. "I'm being nice because I know about your past; and I don't want to say something that might upset you or get you worked up - if you must know."
Judy blushed as she looked back down at her lap. So he knew...
"You see, uncomfortable atmosphere right here," Nick stated - obviously trying to make Judy feel less uncomfortable - his voice echoing off the walls. "This is all your fault, Judy," he teased.
Judy looked up and giggled. She would be lying if she said she didn't like Nick. He was different to other foxes, probably because he was a cop, and he was certainly different to the fox that attacked her when she was nine. He was kinder, more softer, and he seemed like an all-round good guy. But what Judy liked the most about Nick was his eyes...
"Ok, so let's get started!" Nick exclaimed, interrupting Judy from her thoughts. "Just tell me everything that happened last night and don't be scared. Us cops are here to help."
He gave Judy a warm, reassuring smile, one that made her want to jump off a cliff with how good it looked on him. And for once in her life, she felt safe, which was something that made her feel stupid. Of course cops were supposed to make people feel safe, otherwise they would've never been able to solve all of their previous cases, so why did it make Judy feel special?
Nick has probably made loads of other teenage girls fall head over heels for him in the process of making them feel safe, so why did she feel special? Judy mentally cursed herself for it before taking a deep breath and preparing herself for what she was going to say, knowing that - deep inside - she would mean nothing to Nick...
