I had gotten much needed sleep in the night, my dreams were filled with my Prince to be… or well I was hoping they would, instead it turned out to be Shadow. Maybe because he was the last thing on my mind when I went to bed. What important matters did he have to attend last night that he wouldn’t see me? Of course this was just a dream and, dreams shouldn’t affect how my daily life went… except I was woken from my dream and was trying to finish it during my studies via day dream.
“Princess!! Will you PLEASE pay attention?! At least you were writing the last time now you’re simply gazing mindlessly at the board.” My teacher slapped his hands on my desk making me jump.
“No I was listening!!” I cried lying of course. Ugh this is so boring, how much more evening does it have to be until Shadow comes?
If you’re wondering what my dream was about, allow me to fill you in. I had come down the stairs meeting my betrothed (only it had been Shadow not Sonic) he bowed kindly and took my hand leading me out the front doors. He took me into town and we met the villagers. After he took me to the field where we once walked treating me to a bite to eat as we lied in the grass on a blanket. After we had our little snack we gazed up at the sky, he held me close to him and we turned to look at each other, our eyes meeting and just took a moment to get lost in them. I felt my face heat in a blush as suddenly he was moving in closer to kiss me! However that was when I woke up with servants setting my breakfast on a plate and setting out my clothing.
Of course I’m daydreaming about it! But it’s not working so well during my studies.
“I can’t take this anymore.” My teacher sighed. He sounded bewildered his face hid in his hands, “I can’t take teaching an ungrateful pupil like this, I’m wasting my life!”
My ears went down just watching him.
“What am I to do? If I don’t have this job I’ll surly starve as one of the commoners, I can’t support my family without this job! How should I tell the king I refuse to teach a student who isn’t learning at all?” he began to cry dropping to his knees and beat a fist on the floor. Whoa this is getting awkward. I never knew he could be so overly dramatic. Not sure if this was all an act to guilt trip me, but in any case I admit it was working…
“I’m sorry…” I said sitting straight in my seat, “I will listen I promise! I don’t want you to leave; you’re the best teacher to ever work in the palace!”
He looked up with a long face and grumbled, “I’m the only teacher that worked in the palace.” He settled down, “I taught you’re father when he was just a little prince. And his mother when she was a princess. I’m much too old for this job; I don’t have the patents I used to have for children.”
“I’m not a child.” I said, “I’m getting married within this month! Children don’t get married do they?”
“Aye, at last you are still so young.” He shook his head, “today’s lesson will have to be cut short…” he sighed.
“Wha? Why?” I tilted my head.
“I told you! Were you not listening still!? I can’t do this anymore, I can’t I can’t!” He stood to his feet pulling at his spines and ran out of my room. Just as he left a servant strolled in a cart with dinner. She looked behind her and back at me confused.
“What happened?” She asked.
“I’m still trying to figure that out…” I replied taking my tray of food and set it on my desk.
“Well ok then… ring when you are finished, as always ma’am.” She bowed and left the room. I sighed lifting the lid on my tray finding my dinner; a pot roast of pork, with cubed potatoes and carrots and garnished with parsley. So much better than that messy chili dog that hadn’t agreed with me a little while later. After I finished eating I rang the bell and my servant came t pick up my tray. For the rest of my time I gazed out the window hoping for my chao to return soon. I had sent her in the morning after feeding her breakfast. The sun was setting. The bright colors of the sunset lit the sky setting in the West. It was still too bright outside, Shadow wouldn’t come yet. I had to wait until the night cast its shadow making the village below a dark silhouette. As the darkness fell there was a bright shining star, Sirius; mine and Shadow’s star. I smiled watching it shine and twinkle brightly next to the crescent moon that began to slowly rise.
