I was shaken from my sleep by the screams of my alarm clock

I was shaken from my sleep by the screams of my alarm clock. My fingers found the off button before I dropped my face back into my pillow. While I was excited to see Elise at school, I was having a lovely dream and my alarm had interrupted at the best part.

Yawning, I sat up and stretched. Somehow, I managed to carry my tired body to the bathroom. My reflection in the mirror warned me of my messy bed-head. I rubbed the sleep from my blue eyes before reaching for a comb and fixing my hair. Despite the combing, my hair has plans of its own.

Oh well.

I shrugged before washing my face and brushing my teeth. As I was finally beginning to feel awake, I walked out to my room and clothed myself the school uniform, which consisted of a tan sweater, a white button down shirt, a black tie, black pants and shoes. Although, most males at school didn't wear their sweaters. They claimed it was too hot, but I personally thought it was so they could show off and try to steal my Elise.

Have fun trying, you'd just end up dying!

I walked out into the kitchen and greeted my mother.

"Mother," I nodded, shuffling around in the refrigerator.

"Son," my mother replied, sipping on her coffee. Although we didn't talk much, we were quite close. I pulled my head out of the fridge and closed it. My mother watched me with eyes that mirrored my own, endlessly blue.

Giving up on my hunt for food, I sat at the kitchen island.

"Aren't you going to eat?" My mother asked tonelessly.

"I don't think I'm hungry," I shrugged, setting my hand in my palm.

"Are you trying to starve yourself?" My mother asked, this time her tone rising tremendously.

"No, mother, I'll eat at school," I sighed.

"You'll eat here so I know that you've fed yourself! I don't want you getting sick!" I rolled my eyes at my mother's antics. She was so fussy over the smallest things. Sighing, I hopped off the stool and grabbed a yogurt.

"Happy?" I asked as I pulled out a spoon and began eating.

My mother smiled widely, "Yes, I'm very happy."

Quickly, I finished the yogurt and grabbed my school bag.

"Bye!" I shouted, opening the front door. My mother rushed up to me and slapped me across the face.

"How dare you try to leave without properly saying goodbye!" She yelled while I recomposed myself. I leaned towards my mother and kissed her, hoping she would make it quick. Instead, she deepened the kiss, tangling her fingers into my already messy hair. After a few long minutes, she let me go.

"Goodbye," she smiled and waved.

"Bye," I replied bluntly. Sometimes I wish father were still here. That way, mother wouldn't fuss over me so much.
