Josh
Mackenzie and I continued hooking up—even after Lucas caught us.
There was something exciting about it. Like I was rebelling against my parents.
Don't get me wrong, I was happy with Chloe. But at times it could be a little boring. All she wanted to do was watch movies and bake things. I was a teenage boy. You would expect me to get bored doing that. I wanted to make out, and get naked. But not quite sex. I wasn't sure I was ready for that.
But being with Mackenzie was different. She was willing to do whatever I wanted. Like a desperate girl thriving on attention.
But that meant losing one of the best friendships I had ever had.
Lucas and I were no longer on speaking terms, which made things awkward for the rest of the band. Brandon and Nick have been trying to patch things up between us, but neither of us wanted to.
Lucas and Mackenzie also broke up. Lucas hasn't come out of his room for the past few days. He blames me for the breakup, but I claim Mackenzie was getting bored with him.
The only thing Lucas has been talking to me about was lecturing me to tell Chloe. Obviously, I wasn't planning on telling her. She was happy, which made me happy. But telling her would result in a broken-hearted Chloe.
So here Mackenzie and I stood, kissing like there was no tomorrow. Savoring each other like we would disappear into thin air.
Just then, we hear a muffled sob. I pulled away, and my heart shattered. There Chloe stood with her hands over her mouth. Next to her stood Lucas, who looked anywhere but my eyes.
I reached out for her, but she was already gone.

Lucas sat in front of me. Mackenzie ran after Chloe to try and talk to her.
"I'm not sorry for what I did," Lucas muttered. "She deserved to know."
I sighed, taking a seat next to him. "I know. I was selfish by not telling her."
Lucas was silent for a couple of minutes. Finally, he sighed. "When did it start."
"A couple of weeks ago. Back when I didn't have the balls to talk to Chloe after we kissed." I admitted, my eyes wandering everywhere except Lucas's.
"Why did you kiss her?" Lucas blurted, his eyes finally making contact with mine.
I hesitated. Why had I felt the need to kiss her? Mackenzie looked like she always had, expect for the fact she was crying. "She was upset. I felt the need to make her feel better."
"That's suppose to be my job." He growled. I nodded, not saying anything.
"She was drug I got addicted to."
"What about Chloe?" Lucas asked.
"I'm gonna do everything in my power to make it up to her. Chloe is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Hooking up with Mackenzie was a mistake. Hopefully I can get her to forgive me." I said, the words falling off my tongue unknowingly.
"But," I continued. "I can't do anything until I get my best friend back."
Lucas raised and eyebrow. "You wanna be friends again?"
"Honestly, I'd rather lose a girl than lose my best friend." I admitted, sticking my hands out.
Lucas smiled, shaking my hand. "Friends."
