A/N: The above pic is a list of Steve's health problems that I've used for this along with the picture above the title. I'm not going to go into much detail because I'm not sure how to write some of them correctly.

Everyone knew the story of Captain America. He grew up during the Great Depression and World War II with Bucky Barnes. He was the first and only person to take the super-soldier serum and was frozen in the ice for 70 years. They knew he lost his first love and watched his best friend die. Now he was an Avenger, fighting along side other heroes like Iron Man and Black Widow. He found his best friend and helped him gain the status of a hero. However, they didn't know the story of Steve Rogers. There was a missing part that the public had no idea about.

You married Steve after 5 years of dating. You'd met him after being recruited for the Avengers and it all played out from there.
It was your one year anniversary when Steve had found out about he other man that had so suddenly entered your life. You were pregnant. Steve was so happy that he was going to be a father. Nothing could've been more perfect then.
Flash forward 9 months. Little James Rogers is born. The doctors give you the news. He has some of Steve's original health maladies. Steve feels terrible and blames himself. At least he'll have the best doctors in the world via Uncle Tony.
Fast forward 6 months. Both of you are back at work, although nothing urgent has come up. Then you get the call one day. A Hydra base just took captives and Fury's sending you in alone. Steve doesn't want you to leave but you have to, so you leave him with James and suit up.
A few days later, Steve receives the worst news that he's ever gotten. You're gone. Quite literally shot through the heart. They tried so hard to save you but the damage was too much. Steve was devastated. Now he had to raise his son all alone, without his best girl.

*5 years later* 5 years old
"You're doing so good. You've almost got it." Steve said to his now 5 year old son, watching him walk unsteadily across the living room floor.
James had almost gotten to his father when his legs gave out from under him. He fell to the ground onto his knees and put his head in his hands. Steve saw his small shoulders shaking. His heart broke. James had wanted to walk without crutches ever since he learned how to. His legs just couldn't support him.
