Chapter Seventeen

My life is amazing. Olivia and I have been together for three months now, Adalynn and I have gotten really close again, and she's been helping me make plans. Plans for what you may ask? You'll see. It's a surprise for Olivia. In any case, things returned to normal for us. We're nearing the end of our senior year in high school, and we're both 18 now. I've saved over ten-thousand dollars, so I think I'm set. I've also talked to my mom about my plans, and she's happy for me.

The Saturday after school let out for the summer, I took my money out of the bank, rented a car for a week, and then went to Zales in the Towne Mall in E-town. As I drove home, butterflies invaded my stomach. I took the key out of the ignotion when I pulled in the driveway. I took a deep breath, and got out of the car; my legs turned to jelly as I walked up the stairs to the porch and in the house. Walking into the house and down the hall to my room, I got even more nervous with each step. I stopped before my bedroom door, and took another deep breath before opening the door and walking in. Olivia was laying face-down on the bed, reading a book. I walked up behind her, and whispered in her ear.

"Hey boo bear." I kissed the top of her head after whispering this, and she rolled over on her back; I sat on the bed beside her.

"Hey babe, I was wondering where you went off to. I woke up cold because you were gone," Olivia said, pouting.

"Sorry sweetheart, I had to go do some things this morning," I smiled.

"Stuff? What kind of stuff?" Olivia asked with her sweetest tone of voice and facial expression.

"You'll see' it's a surprise for you," I winked at her. "Help me pack," I said, pulling my giant black Nike duffel out of my closet.

"Pack? For what?" Olivia asked, looking slightly scared. I sat and took her hand in mine, kissing it lightly.

"Don't be scared; it's a surprise for you. I promise," I smiled warmly at her.

"Okay, I'll take your word for it," she said, hugging me. When she let me go, she looked at me for a moment, and kissed me. It wasn't just a peck on the lips; it was long, slow, sweet. When she pulled away, she smiled at me again and turned to our closet and dresser to get four days worth of clothes. I helped her get clothes picked out, and then went to the bathroom to get the essential toiletries. Upon returning to my room, I saw Olivia struggling to shove everything down in our bag.

"Babe, do you need help?" I asked.

"No... I.... Got it!" She said, shoving everything down one last time.

"Wow..." I said, impressed.

"Now we can zip up our duffel with no hassel," she smiled proudly.

"Then I should be able to do this," I said, tossing our toiletries bag into the duffel. I zipped it up and set it on the floor.

"I'll take this out to the car," I said, dragging the duffel behind me out to the car. Olivia followed me out to the car, and gasped when she saw I had rented a 2011 Mercedes-Benz.

"Oh my God! How did you ever afford this!?" She exclaimed.

"Don't worry about that; just get in," I smiled while I set our duffel in the back seat. I smiled when Olivia ran enthusiastically to get in the car and play with all its bells and whistles. I walked back up to the house and inside; I needed to talk to mom.
