Hello Big Apple

"Shocked" is an understatement

I know every other teenager would be very excited if they had the chance to go to the Big Apple, but on the contrast, I am not. In fact, it more or less seems like a nightmare to me. Probably because I am not ready for a changeover of lifestyle or I don't really know how I'll be able to adapt. I just don't really know, but all I know is, my fear is swallowing me up!
So this is how my nightmare came in during the daylight.

*This morning*

"Louis, I am going to school to check on the new semester details! Tell mum and dad if you see them yeah. Love ya.", I screamed from downstairs since Louis was up in his room and I didn't know where my parents were.

"OKAY! LOVE YA BUNNYFACE!"
Louis just knows how to make my day. Grinning widely, I headed to the door when Lexis comes rushing towards me. Lexis was one of my parents' many assistants, but I could say he was the best and the most loyal. Also, my parents find it easy to confide in him regarding family or personal issues as well. So he was more like family.

"Good morning Lucy! Mummy wants me to tell you that you are not going to be going to school today."

"Mum knows I am going to school?"
I thought mum never keeps track of my daily happenings, I mean, she hardly spends time with me.

"Yes she knows, and she needs you to stay back. She has something important to tell you."

"Oh!" That was all I could say.

"Okay then, I will go back up to my room, tell mum to call me when she wants to talk."

So I go back to my room and I decided to watch a movie. So I open up my macbook when Cindy calls me. Cindy is one of the 5 awesome friends I have. I had a half an hour conversation with her. It's so amazing how you never feel time flying when you spend time with your loved ones. As soon as I hung up, Louis walked in and jumped on my bed. We then decided to watch the movie together. I sat beside him with my head on his shoulders and just as I fell asleep when the movie just began.

After what felt like forever, Louis woke me up saying mum wanted to talk to the both of us.

We were called to the backyard. Mum and Dad were already seated on the table and Lexis was also there, we took our seats across our parents, just waiting to hear what had made them to call us here.

Then mum started, "Hi kids, uhmm, there is something dad and I have decided, uhmm, well as you know, Louis will be soon done with his undergraduate and will be going to
Australia for his masters. Uhmm..."

Then dad cut in," I'll just come straight to the point."

Okay, I don't know where this is heading to, and I was already freaking out. I squeezed Louis' hand from under the table.

"Lucy, this is about you darling."

Oh no! No! I heard wrong right! Why is this about me? Everything was fine and perfect!

"You are going to be attending an international school in the Big Apple!"

That's it! This was what it was all about? I turned and looked at Louis, i see the look on his face, the one that says 'I can feel your worries'.

To say I was 'shocked' would be an understatement.

"What? Dad, I think I didn't hear you right."

Mum interrupted, "You heard him right and you are leaving in two weeks! No more questions!"

No more questions? What do you mean 'no more questions?' I was furious! I am 16 and I have the right not to be ordered around like a 6 year old.

"Mum! Are you kidding me? You can't send me somewhere far far away. And besides, you can't tell me what to do. You need my consent in this matter. You should have asked me first. I am not going anywhere!"

I could see mum's cheek flashing red. Lately, she's been very short tempered. It's like she has PMS all the time.

"But mum! Dad! Louis say something! Lexis." I have no idea why I called out everybody seated at the table but I felt helpless.

Then dad spoke, "You know we will only do the best for you. Please Lucy darling. You will not regret it."

My dad was always a very understanding and patient man.
I just got up and walked away to the garden. I was just staring at the lilies, they are so pretty. I always loved walking around in the garden. It makes me feel so happy, even times when I feel so angry or sad. Like even now! A butterfly flew by and sat at the tip of my nose, and that was enough to calm me down.
