Riley walked over to the sobbing lady, who immediately looked up. She said something then the lady smiled. From far away, I couldn't really tell, but something happened with her eyes. Then they both disappeared.
"Demon." Sam and I whispered together.
Sam looked at me quickly.
"Where do we go!" He asked me, panicked.
Castiel appeared in front of us, Sam jumped back.
"Riley has been taken." He stated staring at me with squinting eyes.
"Yeah, we got that, Cas." I said, glaring at him. "We just need to know where she is."
He looked up for a minute, then back at me.
"Well?" I asked impatiently.
"Quiet, Dean." He said quietly. "She's been taken by a demon, to an abandoned warehouse in Reno, Nevada."
I pulled my Impala keys immediately out of my pocket.
"We leave, now." I demanded.
"As you wish." Said Castiel.
He tapped mine and Sam's foreheads and in an instant we were transported.
"This place is crawling with demons." Sam said, scanning around.
They were making it pretty obvious, people surrounding every exit, people constantly pacing and looking around suspiciously.
"I say we go in fighting, blades whirling. They won't know what hit them." I said in a low voice.
"They haven't protected it well against angels, we could just-" Castiel was cut off as he transported us inside the warehouse.
We arrived at a gruesome scene. Riley was lying on a surgeon chair, leather strips with sigils carved in them bound her tightly. She couldn't scream, as a leather strip was covering her mouth. But as soon as she saw us, it was all over. Her face flooded with relief and her body went slack. She tried saying our names. She said mine first, which, all though I won't admit it, made me feel happy.
"What?" The demon demanded.
When she didn't answer, he pressed the blade harder to her neck. He turned around once he noticed Riley staring at us.
"Perfect!" He screamed. "They said the Winchesters couldn't get in!"
One perfectly aimed shot at his heart, with the demon knife. That's all it took. Riley looked so relieved, but began struggling in her straps.
Sam cut her out and she collapsed into my arms. My shoulder felt wetter where her face was, and I could feel her shaking.
"Shh. It's okay. I got you, you're okay now. I promise." I whispered, rubbing her back. "You're safe with us, okay baby? I'm gonna lift you up now."
Riley was surprisingly somewhat steady on her feet, but was still shaky. Her breathing was uneven and she flinched away from everyone's touch.
Well, everyone's except for mine, which lifted my spirits.
I threw Sam the keys, nodding to him. Castiel climbed into the front seat, much to my complaint, but I ended up sitting with Riley in the back. I kept my arm around her the whole time.
"Are you okay?" I murmured in her ear.
Riley nodded, though I didn't believe it.
About fifteen minutes later, her head began to gently drop onto my shoulder. She immediately lifted it up after a bump on the road. Riley rubbed her eyes in an adorable way, bringing a memory to the front of my mind.
We were about 15 years old. My dad had left Sammy, Riley and I alone again. He always told me to 'protect Sam and Riley', but Riley didn't need protecting. She could do it herself. In the middle of the night, Riley woke me up, her eyes reflecting the street lights from the window. My heart jumped when I saw her. She was wearing one of my old t-shirts, it was a bit big on her, but it looked good.
"I heard a scratch on the door." She whispered. "But when I opened it, there was nothing there."
I propped myself up on my arm.
"It was probably nothing." I said hoarsely. She shook her head. As she was about to speak, an insistent scratching sounded.
"That's it!" She whispered.
I turned to Sammy, who was sound asleep on my dad's bed."Fine. Let's check it out."
Riley held her shotgun at her side, then waited until the scratching started again. She opened the door to see a raccoon standing outside. It squeaked and darted away.
"Well, that's your monster!" I chuckled.
She looked at me with pursed lips, then rubbed her eyes, making my heart feel like it was melting. Not that I would say that.
"Can you take watch? I'm too t-tired." She said, yawning.
I nodded, glad that the darkness hid my small smile. She patted my shoulder, but then suddenly gave me a gentle hug. She rested her head on my shoulder as I wrapped my arms around her waist.
"You know, you're pretty comfortable." She said, pausing to yawn again. "I might just fall asleep on you."
I chuckled softly in her ear.
"If I get to sit down, I might just let you." I mumbled.
Her eyes were already closed, she muttered a quiet 'mm hm.'
I picked her up, and carried her to the couch, as I sat down, she nuzzled my neck.
I turned my head slightly to check on Sammy, but I could barely focus with Riley cuddling me. My heart was beating too fast.
"Goodnight, Deanie." She mumbled, her breath tickling my ear.
"Goodnight, Riles." I whispered, pulling her closer with my arms tightly around her waist.
Riley put her arm around my neck, and we stayed like that the whole night.
I shivered at the memory. What I wouldn't give to have my Riley back.
