Chapter 9 Waffles

Shannon's POV

I'm wake up the next day welcomed by the brightness of the morning. I'm laying on my back and I see Cam's head laying on my chest. One arm, now just in a brace, is at her side while the other lying lay across my stomach holding my left hand. My other arm is on Cammie's back, and I find my self subconsciously rubbing it. She had a right to be scared last night, the storms were pretty bad. Good thing I came home when I did because I might have gotten stuck at that party.

'It was a good time though. And that Jackson guy seemed pretty nice. I can't wait to see him again, maybe I can finally have a boyfriend and my sister can stop questioning me about my love life.'

I fell Cammie move against my chest  readjusting herself; letting out a deep sigh in the process. I feel completely at peace with her laying here. I think I could lay here all day.

'It's so great to have such a close friend. Cammie really is my best friend, and NOTHING more, because you like Travis. Even though you don't think you would mind kissing her. Wait... yes you would mind... a lot, because you're not gay, and neither is Cammie. Ughhh I need to leave, how about I go make us some breakfast. I'm sure there's waffle mix in the pantry.

I slide out of bed removing myself from Cammie hoping I don't wake her up. She pouts her lips for a second, but when I lean down and kiss her forehead she smiles.

'That was just a friendly way of comforting your friend. That's all it was.'

I tiptoe down the stairs trying to keep the amount of creeks to a minimum. I really want to surprise Cammie with breakfast. I make the waffles relatively quickly, adding in blueberries to a few not knowing what Cammie will like. Just as I'm about to run up and get her she emerges from the staircase.

"Good morning Shan. What smells so good," she says in s high pitched morning voice.

"Well I thought I would make us some breakfast."

"Thanks," she comes up beside me and gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

We eat breakfast as Cammie tells me the full story of the dream that she had last night. I can't help but feel bad for her , I would have been terrified if I was in her position. I remember being scared enough for her while I was trying to get her breathing under control.

Cammie leaves to go upstairs and change while I take care of our dishes. I'm interrupted though by a notification on my phone.

(Unidentified Number)- Hey it's Jackson from last night. I was wondering if you wanted to come and have lunch with me today.
S- idk you know how I had to leave last night
J- yeah
S- Well basically it's a long story but I had to come home and take care of my friend. She was kinda freaking out, and I don't know if I really feel comfortable leaving her alone for long again.
J- Hey, that's alright, I have a roommate that can come too, it can be kinda of like a double date. Then you won't have to leave you're friend.
S- Sounds great I'm in where do you want to meet.
J- Let's go to Twisted Root at around 1.
S- Kk can wait to see you ❤️
J- Looking forward to it 😘

I run up the stairs and see Cam on my bed brushing her hair. We're going to meet some guys for lunch today at 1.

"Okay." She says kind of confused

"I'm meeting a guy I kind of hit it of with at the party last night. He's also bringing his roommate for you to meet."

"I don't have to start anything with him do I?"

"Ohh, no-no-no, not until you're comfortable Cam, and you might not even like him. I'll help you I promise. If you have any questions just ask. And that reminds me we need to get you a phone."

"I think that could come in handy."

"Yeah. Now let's get ready for my date and your, let's say, "social meeting."
