Chapter 11 Rose Gold

Shannon's POV

"It's not like I can do anything with it anyway, because I still don't have a phone yet." Cam says suggestively to me.

"Hmm, that would be helpful wouldn't it," I think aloud,"but you don't have one so I guess it's a lost cause." I let out a big dramatic sigh at the end of the sentence teasing Cammie.

"You're so mean," she says squealing while hitting my arm. "But do you think I could get a phone."

"I don't know."

"Shaaaannnnooooonn." She groans.

"Yeah, okay," I grin at her endearing behavior, "We'll get you a phone, I think Mom might be home on her lunch break so let's talk to her."

"Yay! Finally."

'Why does she want to talk to this Terrance guy so much. She said he was gay, aren't gay people kinda weird acting? That's why I'm not gay, cause I don't act like that and I have a "boyfriend."'

"So... Do you really like Jackson?" Cam asks less enthusiastic my now.

"Yeah, he's attractive, smart, and he acts like a gentleman to me."

"Okay, is that what you should look for in a relationship with someone?"

'Don't mess this up Shan, if you do she'll believe it for the rest of her life.'

"That can be helpful, yes, but also liking a person for who they are is probably the biggest thing."

"Do you like Jacksons personality?"

"I don't think I've know him long enough to know that yet, but for right now yes, he seems really nice."

"Okay," is all she responds.

"Cam I don't want you to feel like you have to go and find a boyfriend. Just because I have one doesn't mean you're like behind or anything. I'd rather you spend time figuring yourself out than another person. And besides I would have to approve of him anyway." She smiles at my last comment."

We pull up the the house behind my Moms car, and are greeted by her when we enter the kitchen.

"Hey mom," I say.

"Mhmm," she says with her mouth full of a chicken sandwich that's sitting in the counter.

"Do you think Cammie could get a phone? She really needs one to help keep in touch with us better, and help make some friends."

"Shannon you know thoses things aren't cheap. I'll pay for half, but the rest is up to you. Well just add her coverage to our phone bill too."

"Shan you don't have to do that for me," she says from behind while putting her hand on my shoulder. I feel tingles underneath it.

"But I want to Cam," I tell her tuning to look at her making to most puppy dog eyes I can; begging her to let me get her a phone.

"Fine," she says giving in, "but I'll make it up to you someday.

"Fine," I groan. "Mom can we go today?"

"Sure, I gotta fly, but here's my credit card; pay me bag when you get home."

"Thanks!" I shout and I'm out the door Cammie following behind me. We pull up to the AT&T store and I rush in wanting to see Cammie with her new phone.

"Woah Shannon," she says next to me, "Take a chill pill will ya."

"I'm sorry, I just want to get you your new phone as soon as possible." I say bouncing up and down.

"I think you're more excited about it than I am."

"How may I help you ladies," a young man comes up to us at the counter. I'm guessing he's about 25 or so.

"Yes, my friend her wants to get the new iPhone 6 Plus." I point to Cammie and she just smiles awkwardly, not entirely comfortable with social situations yet.

"Sure let me go grab one, Rose gold, Gold, or Space Grey?"

"Uhh."

I lean over, lightly touching my lips to her ear, and whisper, "Rose gold."

"Rose gold," she says to the man blushing.

"Alrighty coming right up."

He leaves and Cammie looks over to me, still blushing, and says, "Thanks Shan."

"No prob." I say and my stomach drops again.

We get home and I take the liberty of setting up her phone, putting in all the passwords and connecting her to the service provider.

When I'm done I hand it to her and she looks at me incredulously.

"What, you should remember how to use it."

"I don't think I do," she says thinking hard.

"Please don't tell me you used and Android." I say almost spitting out the word. 

"I didn't remember," she says now getting frustrated.

"Hey it's fine I'll show you how."

I slide up next to her, our legs touching I notice, and show her how to put a password in, add contacts, and text people. I also show her how to work Safari and take pictures.

"Now let's take a picture for your background, that's the best part."

"Okay. Of us you mean?"

"Sure, why not." I look at her and smile, she does the same back. I grab her phone and hold it up in front of us.
"Smile." I take the picture and I look at it. "Pretty good but we could do better."
Then, I give her back her phone and turn to give her a big hug. I also kiss her cheek while she takes the picture, because why not.

"I like that picture," she says smiling while looking at it.

"Send it to me. You remember how right?"

"Yeah, I think so." Just right after that I get a text from an unknown number with the picture of us attached to the message, Hey.

Hey, I send back and make Cammie's contact in my phone. It says: Cam 😊🙈. She sends a Hi back and I reciprocate. I can hear her giggling beside me.

"Hey, you wanna watch a movie and eat pizza tonight," I say suddenly turning to her.

"Do I?!"
