I was engaged! I was engaged before even finishing college that was something I was never expecting, but life takes you by surprise. After that very public proposal, Javier grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. He told me to smile and I was confused, but I smiled and I later understood. He made a stranger take a picture of us. Javier said he wanted to cherish and never forget this moment.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked as we walked towards his car.
"Never been more sure about something in my whole life, babe."
"No tricks, lies, or disappearances?" I just wanted him to assure me of this one more time.
"I promise you no more."
I sighed. I could finally say I was happy. Happy with where I was standing.
"Javier before thinking about wedding dates and all this. I need to come clean. I don't want to rush our marriage. I first want to finish college you know get my degree in Political Science and make someone out of myself."
"Oh god, thank god you said that. I did not want to rush you, and before we get married I want to sort everything out with the flash drive and Picasso I want to have a peaceful life with you and our future children." He wanted children with me? That just made me grin from ear to ear.
"How does three years sound?" I asked.
"Like a lot of time, but if that's what you want then your wish should be granted. That way you can plan the wedding of your dreams." He smiled. God how I missed that smile.
"So who should we tell first about our engagement?"
"Teddy!" We both said at the same time.
"Okay let me call him." I said and began dialing his number.
"Hello, Teddy here who's on the other side?" He asked.
"It's the start of something new it feels so right." I sang.
"TO BE HERE WITH YOU AND NOW LOOKING IN YOUR EYES IM FEELING IN MY HEART THE START OF SOMETHING NEW." He sang back. I couldn't help, but laugh. Our friendship was this weird.
"Teddy, I have some news for you."
"Oh yeah what is it? You coming to Stanford? Thank god, I always wondered how you dealt with those British people, they talk weird drive on the wrong side of the road, I never understood!" He exclaimed.
"Hey don't talk about my fellow British people
like that! That's my second home."
"My bad, my bad. Anyways what's the news?"
"I'm getting married. Well not now, but I'm engaged."
He gasped and said," WAS SERGIO REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT MARRIAGE!?! I THOUGHT HE WAS A MANWHORE BUT I GUESS I COULD SEE IT, THE NICE SWEET GIRL CHANGES THE MANWHORE KINDA CLICHE IF YOU ASK ME, BUT YOUR KIDS ARE GONNA BE SPANISH AND AMERICAN THEY---
"She's marrying me, fool!" Javier finally spoke.
"Javier?"
"Yes, idiot. Your brother is marrying your bestfriend."
"Give me a second." Teddy said. I heard some movement in the back and some clicking from a computer. I gave Javier a confused look and he gave me the same one back.
