Tick tock tick tock

My watch clicked away to 10 mins, and my bestfriend still hadn't arrived. 'Late as usual..' I groaned. Soon, I sensed her aura and I saw her turn round the corner of the street.

Her short brown hair in a mess, as she was running, her bright turquoise eyes shining, she waved at me in excitement, a smile not leaving her face.

"Ah I'm so sorry for being late!" She almost sank to her knees while panting hard.

"It's alright, let's go" a small smile made its way onto my face on seeing her.

On our way, she was the one to talk the most, about how she and her crush Daichi, who happened to be a common friend of ours, had been hanging out at the park when he confessed to her and that they're now officially dating.

"So why didn't you walk with him to school?" I chuckled.

"Hey no way, you are priority." She punched me. I feigned being hurt.

"Oh stop it, I know you're faking it" she brushed me off.

I smiled at her. Suddenly, a nightmare from two nights back flashed before my eyes:

'Keiko had gone for a walk in forest-like hill, which seemed so familiar but I couldn't recall going there or its location, when it started raining pretty hard and while she was rushing downhill, she slipped and due to the muddy road, she started to tumble down. Suddenly she hit something hard as a huge rock, but furry and dark black in colour.

It was a huge spider, poisonous one to be exact, which was furious on being disturbed during its sleep. Before she could react, it had bitten her. She screamed out loud, as her feet started turning sloppy green due to the poison.

Pureblood humans weren't equipped with the power to cast a shield around oneself when it came to protecting themselves, unless they were seers, priests (monks) or priestesses (mikos), witches or wizards.

Keiko soon started loosing her consciousness just as the spider was about to attack her again..but suddenly, a ball of lightening, out of nowhere, struck on the giant spider and a male figure, all in black, jumped in front of Keiko, who took a last glance at her saviour, murmured "Ryouta...." and passed out.'

I shivered. It seemed so real, as if it had already occurred sometime in the past. I had been having weird vivid dreams like this from my 10th birthday. I didn't tell my parents, as I didn't wanna bother them.

The only other people who knew about it were Keiko, Daichi and Arata, my bestfriends. Keiko, Daichi and I had grown up together, we knew each other since kindergarten. Arata had recently transferred schools when we were in grade 10. We were his first friends and the four of us instantly got along pretty well.

Keiko soon noticed that I had spaced out and wasn't listening to a single word said by her. Nudging me, she asked, "What's wrong? You seem a bit gloomy today", worried expression etched on her face.

"Ah nothing" I tried to cover up with a smile, but she wouldn't budge. I always shared about my dreams with her, but somehow I couldn't make myself tell her about this particular one, and it had been bugging me the whole weekend.

"I know something's up, and it must be one of your dreams right?" She stepped in front of me and held my shoulders staring right into my eye to be able to detect any lie coming from my side.

I sighed. I knew it was useless to avoid it from her.

"Yeah, dreams again." I lightly pushed her to the side as I started walking a few steps ahead her.
