“Hey, Dominik,” I smiled and waved him over.

“Um, I hope you don’t mind, but Damon kind of wanted to meet you,” Dom informed me quietly as his boyfriend tried to catch up with him.

“Hi, are you Fallon?” He held out his hand to me and I shook it awkwardly.

“This is Kayden,” I ushered her to say hi, but she just awkwardly waved.

I looked at Dom and he shrugged as a way of saying ‘what did you want me to do?’

“So, we should probably get going,” I suggested and Damon nodded.

We walked down the several blocks to the mall mostly quiet. Damon and Dom held hands and I felt a twinge of jealousy and I didn’t know where it came from. Kayden and I talked quietly every now and then, but not loud enough for them to hear.

“Will you hold my hand to make guys leave me alone?” she asked me quietly.

I nodded, “I guess it is time for a change.”

I took her hand and interlaced our fingers. See, the thing with holding hands is that if I hold your hand normally then I don’t want to be close to you or I’m not really interested in you, but if I lace my fingers with yours, then you’re special to me. Everything is about love and passion to me, but nothing is ever out of lust.

My hand seemed to fit perfectly with hers and I loved it. I just don’t understand why I feel like this and I’ve only known her for a few days. When we finally got to the store I felt Kayden’s hand start to shake a bit. I didn’t like her to feel nervous because when people get nervous, they overthink and when they overthink, they do things that are bad for themselves. I know because I’ve thinked myself out of happiness a thousand times over and never once into it.

I stroked her hand with my thumb reassuringly and she replied with a sad smile.

“Hey, guys, what do you think about these trucks?” Dominik called us over.

“I used to have these, they hold out well. You should get them,” I answered his question, but found myself eyeing a board on the wall.

It was a green text blood skateboard made by Zero. I walked over to the counter, letting go of her hand.

“Hey man, do you know the price on that Zero board?”

“Yeah, $80 even,” the cashier answered.

“Here,” I threw four twenties on the counter and grabbed it off the wall.

I turned around and saw Kayd looking at me quietly. I walked towards her and reached out for her hand, but she didn’t take it.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her concerned.

She shook her head and went over to Dominik, muttered something, then left the store. I walked over to the guys and held my hands up clueless.

“What did I do?” I asked them.

“She just said she was going to the bathroom,” Damon informed me.

“I’m going to go wait for her outside the bathroom.”

“Are you okay?” I asked Sara desperately.

“I’m fine,” She replied with a weak smile.

“I know you’re lying to me.”
