DAWN OF DISCOVERY: THE JOURNEY
Tod lay on the cold ground, blood seeping through his white T-shirt. Stacey, his ex-girlfriend who had viciously stabbed the long blade of a machete into his abdomen, lay unconscious from a powerful blow to the temple. Miles, Tod's lifelong friend is in shock from the attack. His face pale, his eyes blank, and his hands trembling.
Why did Stacey drive the blade into his best friend, he thought. How did she get here to this deserted Air Force base, and why?
Sarah paced back and forth with barely controlled rage. She wished she could unleash that rage on Stacey. Sarah imagined many scenarios in which her revenge is completed, at times repeating itself until the only thing that could possibly identify Stacey, would be her dental records. Hair is torn, flesh flayed off, eyes painfully and excruciatingly ripped from their sockets. Dark thoughts consumed her. Each moment torments her to murder this woman. Blood drips from the blade onto the ground. Dust from the sand erupting from every drop of blood spilled. The dance with death.
"Tod, are you serious?! How can you speak of journeying to who knows where when you have a machete sticking out of your gut?" Sarah yells.
"Sarah I'm fine." As I roll onto my left side, the alien device in my hand starts glowing. It seems to be radiating some sort of energy like lightning in my hand. As it pulsates and hums, suddenly I feel tingling all over my body. To my surprise and astonishment, the machete that was stabbed into my gut begins to slowly slide out without pain, and without blood.
"Oh my God!" Sarah exclaims.
"Tod what the Hell is going on here? What is happening to the world?" Miles asked.
"The Earth is being attacked by an alien race." I responded quietly, "There are 9 billion alien ships above the Earth, and another 950 million ships between Mars and Jupiter. Thankfully, the asteroid belt is making it difficult for the ships to make it here, but we need to do something before they can get here. When the first alien ship landed it, created a war factory that builds various ships, weapons, and equipment!"
"How can you possibly know this stuff? Did that thing in your hand and change you something?" Miles asks me.
"No, this device in my hand has linked into my mind. It seems to be something similar to a GPS system, but also has other functions including an energy weapon, flashlight of sorts, and it converts solid matter into other forms of solid matter. Take this rock for example. . . ."
I point the device at a nearby rock about the size of a basketball. I then visualize the rock changing shape into a triple-barreled automatic shotgun. Right, then I open my eyes and saw the rock actually start forming into the shape I had imagined in my mind. Then I point the device in my hand at a tire near the entrance to the hanger. I visualize the tire changing into a drum magazine, and watch the tire move and alter into the clip.
"How is this happening?" Miles wondered out loud.
"At this point, I don't really care how it's happening because we now have this ridiculous triple-barrelled shotgun!" Sarah said excitedly.
"You know that's very true Sarah, and on that note, I'm gonna try out that new shotgun and it is going to be a blast!" Miles exclaims as he picks up the shotgun.
"Wow, Miles is being punny today"
Suddenly, Stacey gets up from the ground and moans as she holds her head with her left hand. Miles looks at me, obviously wondering what we should do about her. Sarah picks up the shotgun and loads it, then points it at Stacey and yells, "Don't you move, not one inch or I'll blow a hole through your head, you witch!"
