POWER OF TRUST

Dyjia looked into my eyes, and instantly I felt the full meaning behind his words. The Supreme Commander raced towards our planet, and with Miles in his clasp. We took the Supreme Commander's world and people from him, and no doubt intended on destroying ours.

It was a particularly hopeless situation, as we were outgunned, outmatched, and demoralized. Only seven War Saucers remained in our fleet. One of which was leaking plasma from its top section. It had an hour until it was ready to jump to hyperspace, which meant that the enemy would arrive at Earth long before we would.

Sarah walked over to my right side, and said, "Any Ideas of how we can beat him back to Earth before he blows it up, or how we'll kill him after we arrive?"

I looked at Sarah, and said, "Say, does this ship's hyperdrive operate under Alcubierre warp drive theory?"

Sarah crinkled her eyebrows, "Well, yes it does. At least very similarly. This ship has internal negative-energy emitter arrays in the underside of the saucer. They connect to the quantum computer's navigational control systems, which then dynamically operates each emitter. Space decompresses ahead of us, then compresses back to normal behind us."

I smiled at her because the idea that briefly flashed in my mind should work. "So, what you're saying is that the speed in which we shoot through space is entirely reliant on the compression-decompression rate?"

Sarah smiled at me, knowing where I was going with it. "Yes," -Sarah began- "All we need to do is turn off the eco-mode, and make the hyperdrive decompress and compress faster, we'll shoot through space at an increased rate. Warp ten in other words."

I nodded, and she got to work. She placed her hand on the hyperdrive control panel. Moments later, the screen turned from a bright blue to a red glow. She looked up and smiled while looking at me. She had done it! I ran over to the communications console and sent a message to the other ships to adjust their hyperdrives accordingly. After a small wait I received confirmation, then I gave the order to the other ships to help repair the damaged ship with their construction turrets.

The six War Saucers surrounded the damaged vessel and aimed their turrets towards it, green energy shot out and began swirling around its hull. The green field of energy transformed into the physical matter of the saucer; The damaged sections grew back into existence, like a salamander's tail regenerating itself.

Minutes later, the ship was repaired and ready to go.

I looked at Sarah, then to Dyjia, and tapped the ship-to-ship communications mode on the console. "Well guys, it's time to rescue our world from the Supreme Sphincter. Jump in ten, nine, eight" -Dyjia looked at me with anticipation of the coming battle- "Seven, six, five, four, three, two, one! Punch it!"

Space outside the ship warped, the light from the stars stretched and slowly began to disappear into a swirling mass of total darkness. As space decompressed and then compressed, all seven War Saucers shot into hyperspace. I looked out of the hyper-shielded viewports and saw the disturbing sight of complete darkness staring back at me. In hyperspace, the light of the stars warped to such a degree that it became imperceptible. It felt like we were inside a black hole, but without the crushing force of an unimaginably powerful gravity well.

"We will arrive in nine point two seconds." The navigation system's avatar chimed.

Dyjia cocked his head. "Tod, what is our battle strategy? We are but seven ships, against one that a whole armada could not defeat."

Dyjia had a point. Our fleet that could blot out the sun wasn't enough to destroy the mothership. It would take a miracle to defeat the Supreme Commander and his mothership. We needed a plan and a damn good one.
