My alarm blared in my ear. I quickly pressed the cancel button on my phone.
I wiped the drool that trailed down from my mouth. I had slept at my desk last night staring at the note.
The light from my closed curtains streamed through and blinded my unadjusted eyes. As I slowly got up my bones creaked from the effort. I quickly stretched and walked over to Dree's room.
I crept in and grabbed a pillow on a nearby chair. I tip toed to her bed and raised it over my head.
"SNEAK ATTACK!" I yelled as loud as I could and slammed the pillow on her head. I kept up my pattern until she started squirming from under me.
"Hey okay! Okay! I'm awake!" She shouted spitting out the feathers that came pouring out of the pillow I was beating her with.
I slowly came to a stop. Each slap with the pillow getting slower and more gentle. My arms were getting tired after all.
"Your lucky I'm tired!" I said a little breathless.
She squinted her eyes at me. "I'll get you back! Why are you waking me up so early anyways!?"
"It's only 9:16 AM." I said giving her a weird look ad I got off of her.
"I'm not a morning person."she mumbled. She rubbed her eyes and yawned like a lion. "You still didn't answer my question!" She glared at me.
"I was serious about those self defense classes Dree. There are a lot of freaks out there." I said seriously. "C'mon we have to get ready for class it starts at 10." I said over my shoulder as I walked out of her room.
I entered my personal bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror and I screamed.
I looked terrible. My hair was standing up in all directions and some make up from yesterday didn't get off. It was smeared down my cheek.
"Did you look in the mirror again?" Dree asked from nearby.
"Leave me be child." I said. Believe it or not this isn't the first time I screamed from my appearance. I quickly took off all my clothes and hopped in the shower.
Feeling refreshed I walked into my room with a towel on.
Well. I'm going to be sweating a lot so I'll wear a pair of spandex and a tee-shirt.
I put on some black Nike sneakers. Topping the look I slicked back my curly wet hair into a ponytail.
"9:35 AM." I said after checking it on my phone.
I walked into the kitchen and quickly whipped up some fluffy pancakes, from scratch.
Yes, I am an amazing cook if I do say so myself.
I topped off the meal with a few strips of bacon on top.
At that exact moment Dree came in sniffing the air. She smiled when she saw the pancakes. "Yes!" She whispered.
"It's 9:50 so hurry up and gobble it up or else we're gonna be late."
She nodded and did what I said, nearly finishing her food before I took a bite. I shook my head and dug in.
We got to the class with 1 minute to spare.
"Hello! I'm Stephanie! I'll be your teacher this morning." Stephanie said with an alarmingly bright smile. She looked down at Dree who was holding my hand. "Oh. I don't usually teach children how to defend themselves but I'll make an exception for you. That will be 15 for you and 5 for the little girl." She said all of this with the most peppiest smile ever. She held out her palm for the money.
