I heard my alarm go off, and I sat up with my elbow supporting my head as I glared at it. Who decided that it was a good idea to make one of these things? After 5 more minutes of giving it the death glare I finally got myself out of bed to get ready for work.
I looked at the time and clarified that I had 2 hours before I needed to be at the diner. I rubbed my eyes sending myself into an alternate universe of swirly colors.
I grabbed a towel and headed to the shower, where I scrubbed my body down. I smiled in relief as the bruises were no longer purple but a faint red. Hopping out of the shower, I brushed my teeth and did my makeup. I decided to leave my hair down to fall into it's natural waves.
I walked over to my closet and taped my chin while thinking of what to wear. Jason didn't tell me anything about a dress code policy, and since I'm going to be cooking I'm sure it doesn't really matter. Settling on something simple I grabbed a pair of gray skinny jeans, a green floral shirt, and my black leather jacket.
I tugged on the clothes, and smiled at my appearance in the mirror. Nice, I thought to myself, while putting on a pair of my black ankle boots. I heard a knock on my door, and told whoever to come in while I grabbed my phone off the desk.
"I see you're ready to go to work." I looked up at a smiling Nani, who for once looked normal with her hair spilling down her back, and clothed in a pair of black leggings and one of my dad's plaid flannels.
I nodded unable to hide my excitement, "It's a nice change." I replied simply.
"Well, I hope you have a good day. Remember to smile, cute girls get bigger tips." I giggled at her joke, "Me and Tony are staying home today, so we'll be here if you need us."
"Okay, thank you Nani." She smiled at me brightly before leaving the room.
I quickly fixed my bed and headed downstairs to where my dad was cooking in the kitchen. "Gotta go so soon?" he questioned before stirring whatever he was cooking in the pot.
I nodded, "I took a while getting dressed. I got 30 minutes to get to the diner. Can't be late on my first day!" I kissed his cheek, and hugged Nani, who was startled by the gesture, and grabbed the keys running out the door.
I pulled up to Tasty, and walked in looking around for Jason. I jumped when someone tapped me on my shoulder and turned around to the see the man I was looking for. "You're here. Just in time, come on I'll get you your stuff."
I followed him to the back of the diner towards the kitchen. "Maddie and Tim this is Rae, Rae this is Maddie and Tim. Rae is a new cook, make her feel welcome, and put her to work." I smiled nicely at the older two, and they smiled right back.
"Don't worry, we'll take care of her Jason." Maddie tossed me a chef's hat, and Tim placed the apron around my waist. "Good luck, love." Jason's lips brushed against my ear as he whispered to me, making me feel weak.
"Thank you." I murmured back, as he left the kitchen.
"So what do you cook?"
I shrugged at Tim's question, "Anything, really."
This made Maddie smile big, "Oh God blessed us with an Angel, here's some orders, lets see how much of a blessing you really are kid." I nodded with determination to show them they should be proud to have me a part of their staff.
