Accadia...

The name echoed in my head accompanied by the faerie's soft and sweet voice.

My eyes scanned the body of the magnificent creature as her chest rose and fell in long intervals.

She wore the battered rags of a simple white gown, her body lying in sand as pale as she was under the moonlight.

I took in my surroundings. Other than the sleeping bodies of the humans, the beach was deserted.

The sound of the waves crashing upon the shore was the only thing caressing my eardrums. Looking back at the small figure of the fae girl, I sighed and knelt beside her. Taking a deep breath, I placed my hands an inch above her skin, letting them hover, using my abilities as a Healer Nix.

Droplets of water crawled forth from the ocean and began glowing once they reached her wounds, healing the cuts and bruises on her body.

The only thing I failed to heal was her wings, I had treated her body the way I would a human's, but I didn't know how to heal faerie wings; they carried and came from an energy that was beyond me.

The faerie continued to rest.

I squinted my eyes at the large forest. Where had she come from?

These days, captured faeries were locked away in factories where they were kept in a comatose state, continuously drained of blood until their bodies gave in maybe twenty to thirty years later. Although, in the wild, faeries could live up to hundreds of years as us mermaids do.

How far has she run?

I couldn't sense a building nearby with the extent of my echolocation.

Then it hit me. What was I going to do with her? Surely, I couldn't leave her on that beach at the mercy of the humans.

What to do with a member of the species that is the sworn enemy of yours?

I couldn't take her back home. Not only would that have gotten us both in big trouble, I was pretty sure the water would slip down her air passages and drown her.

I shook her shoulder gently, "Wake up."

Accadia winced. "Sorry," I said to the unconscious faerie girl.

I sighed and anxiously pulled at my hair. It fell in dark waves past my shoulders, going to its original pristine form once I let go.

Craning my neck to look behind me, I stared at the seawater.

"Hmm," I mumbled as I waved my hand. A blob of water burst from the shore, floating towards me.
With a flick of my wrist, I sent the bubble of salt water crashing into the girl's face.

With a small yelp, the faerie squinted her eyes and crumpled her nose. She then shook her head and wiped her face with the back of her hand.

As if realizing something, her arm dropped, a look of astonishment on her face. She widened her eyes as she stared right at me.

I awkwardly scratched at the back of my head, "Hi, I'm Callize."
After a few moments of silence I added, "I saved you."

The faerie sat up, looked into the distance, and frowned, "Thank you, mermaid. I have to go now."
