IT HAD BEEN almost two weeks since the incident. Not much had really changed since then either. Sebastian remained stable and unconscious. Reyna continued to stay with him, and those who could visited every now and then. Most of the cast had made an appearance at the hospital, including Tom, who had managed to find some time off from shooting his movie to come see Sebastian, as well as Reyna.
Reyna was still very much an emotional wreck, as she had been when she had first arrived at the hospital almost two weeks ago. She was drowning in sadness and fear, both of which had reached levels she wasn't even sure was possible. She could hardly sleep because of how terrified she was of losing Sebastian, especially after spending two weeks with him showing little or no signs of getting better.
Reyna sat in her normal spot beside Sebastian's bed. Her legs were pulled against her chest in the seat, and her hand was wrapped tightly around Sebastian's. She was looking down at him, though it was hard to see him in the dim light. It was nearing midnight, and the only source of light she really had was the flashing lights on the many machines he was hooked up to, as well as the small sliver of light escaping from the bathroom.
With a gentle squeeze to his hand, Reyna leaned forward in her seat, placing her head down onto Sebastian's shoulders. She wanted nothing more than for him to wrap his arms around her, but right now that wasn't possible.
"I miss you, Sebastian," Reyna spoke to him. Part of her knew it was useless to do so, but the other part of her had hope that he could hear her, no matter how far down in his mind he was trapped. "You're here but you're not, and that's a pretty scary thing to think about."
Reyna let out a sad sigh and focused her attention on the wall at the opposite side of the room. Her mind drifted as she lay, her seventeen year old memories with Sebastian finding their way to the very center of her mental focus, as well as her verbal focus.
"I keep thinking about our memories," Reyna started, a ghost of a smile on her face. "I didn't realize just how many we actually had; I guess we spent a lot more time together than I originally thought we did."
She chuckled quietly to herself as she reminisced, reaching her hand up to wipe away a tear before placing it back down in its spot around Sebastian's hand. "I wouldn't change any of it for the world, though, not even the bad; they're what make us Reyna and Sebastian."
Reyna paused for a moment to compose herself before she continued speaking, though she fell victim to her emotions, despite her attempts to keep them at bay. "You're my best friend, and I love you so much. I need you to come back to me, okay? You're all I've known for seventeen years; I can't even remember what my life was like before you were in it, and I definitely don't want to be forced to forget what my life was like with you in it, and that's what'll happen if you leave me. I can't live with that pain—I can't live with you being gone, Sebastian. I'm barely holding on now."
She paused again to catch her breath and wipe her face. "I meant it when I said I couldn't be without you; I meant it when I said I needed you. You're my whole life; without you I wouldn't know what to do. I just—I can't be without you. I need you to stay with me."
Reyna squeezed her eyes shut as she began to sob, unable to contain her emotions any longer. She wound her free arm around Sebastian's bicep and held on as tightly as she could without disturbing the machinery he was hooked up to, while she intertwined the fingers of her other hand with his. She ran her thumb gently over the soft, but cool, skin of his hand and nestled herself further into his side as she cried.
"Please don't leave me," she whimpered as she held him.
"I would never dream of it."
Reyna shot up immediately, her tear-filled green eyes falling on Sebastian's dark figure laying down in his hospital bed. Her mouth parted in slight shock, as she was unable to figure out whether or not she had actually heard his voice or if it had just been her mind playing a cruel joke on her.
"S-sebastian?"
The gentle squeeze he delivered to her trembling hand was enough confirmation for her, though he still followed with a verbal response. "Of course it's me, sweetheart; who else would it be?"
In a single instance, Reyna's mood had completely shifted. She was no longer sad or fearful, but she was happy and relieved. Sebastian was going to be okay after all. "Oh my gosh, Sebastian," she cried as she wrapped her arms around him.
"It's nice to see you, too," he spoke as he hugged her back, a quiet chuckle escaping his scratchy throat.
"You're okay," Reyna spoke frantically, almost trying to convince herself more-so than Sebastian.
"What happened?"
Reyna pulled away from him and wiped her face, reaching up to turn on his bedside lamp. "You got. . .drunk. You got really drunk, really fast, and it didn't end well," she told him, her eyes brightening automatically as they fell upon his lit face. It had been too long since she had seen his blue eyes and the crinkles by his eyes. It was the little things she seemed to have missed the most.
Sebastian's brows furrowed and he look down at his blanket as he searched through the mess of his mind, frowning when he began to put it all together. "I lost Peanut. . .and you weren't there to take away the pain. I didn't know what else to do."
"I thought I was gonna lose you," Reyna said, her voice cracking slightly.
Sebastian snapped his head up to look at her, his frown deepening at the sight of her; he had always hated seeing her in pain, especially when he was the main cause of it. "No, no, no, no, no. You're not gonna lose me, Rey. I'm gonna stay right here; I'm not going anywhere, okay?"
"Don't you ever pull that shit again," Reyna scolded him as she wiped her face. "You don't know how horrible the past two weeks have been waiting for you to wake up."
"Two weeks?" Sebastian asked with wide eyes.
Reyna only nodded.
"C'mere," Sebastian sighed and moved over slightly, gesturing Reyna to get into his bed with him. "I'm so sorry, Reyna."
Reyna sniffed and hugged his side, resting her head onto his chest. "It's okay. Just don't ever scare me like that again."
"I won't. . .I promise," he breathed out, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of her head. "I love you so much, Reyna Lynn."
"And I love you, Sebastian."
