Chapter 6

"Just leave..." I whispered in between gasps.

I couldn't stop crying. The boy of my dreams could be dead in hours. I watched Nathan leave. His features weak as he shuffled towards the scratched door.

He opened the door and it broke off the hinges. Staring at the scrap of wood for a moment, he muttered an "I'm Sorry.."

I closed my eyes and heard the faint sound of the car door slamming. The engine of the car got quieter and quieter as it created a distance between us.

I slumped down again the wall.

Partly from exhaustion and partly because I could handle all this anymore.

I've been a vampire for a day and I'm already done.

I slowly got up from the floor and walked out the door. I'm pissed and I'm thirsty, so I decided to hunt to get me mind off everything.

I made my way to the forest and pounced on every animal I could find. I felt warm tears rolling down my face. I hadn't even noticed that I was crying.

I couldn't stop thinking about the day Jai and I met.

*FLASHBACK*

I was walking down the over-crowded hallway of our high school. I was pushing through everyone in my way to get to my next class on time.

By the time I got into my class I jumped into the room quickly so that I would be in my desk by the time the bell rang. As I was speed walking to my desk, I ran into someone.

"Oops! Sorry, Nat-" I spoke thinking I knew this person.

"Are you new here?" I asked.

"Yes. I just moved here yesterday." He replied in a really cute accent.

I smiled at him. Is this what love at first sight feels like? I thought.

"Here's my number." He grabbed my phone and started punching in his phone number.

I reached over and grabbed this phone from his jeans.

"Only fair if you get my number too." The smile never left my face.

Once we both were done, we hugged and Jai ran out the room to get to his next class.

When I turned around everyone in the classroom was staring at me wide-eyed.

"I ship it!" One girl yelled and broke the silence. Everyone started laughing really hard, including me.

I sat down at my desk and secretly texted Jai the entire period.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I got up and began walking to the hospital. I had to get something done. I had to get my mind off everyone thing that was happening.

"May I see Jai Brooks please? I asked the lady at the front desk.

"Are you immediate family?" She asked never looking up from her phone.

"Well no but-" She cut me off.

"Patients in the ICU are to be visited by immediate family only. No exceptions." She snapped back.

"Please ma'am. He is everything to me. I need to see him. At least tell me how he's doing." I pleaded. I need to know if he was gonna be okay or not.

"Ms. Lynn will help you. I have other customers." She said with an attitude.

I walked over to where Ms. Lynn was standing.

"Can you get me into the ICU?" I was straight-forward.

"Yes, but we got to work together on this one." She smirked at me.

I liked this lady.
