Chapter 13

Ariana's P.O.V

We walked into the massive mansion and immediately I was amazed by the beauty of it all. She walls were pearly white with golden accents that seemed to dance across to structure. Along the long corridor were rows after rows of golden pillars that were absolutely huge. I felt like a little kid standing my the ocean in this place. Everything was so massive and I felt so small.

"Welcome to the Cane Residence."

A young man walked up to Nathan and I and slowly bowed down to us, as if we were royalty. He handed us both a glass of champagne. I turned to Nathan and slowly raised my eyebrows.

"Drink it. It's delicious."

I hesitantly took a sip from the glass and was shocked when i tasted the liquid inside. It truly tasted delicious. I turned to Nathan with my eyes wide and nodded slowly.

"This tastes so good, Nat."

He smiled slowly and shook his head slightly.

"Why do you never listen to me?"

We both were giggling to ourselves when we heard some clear their throat. Our heads both turned quickly to see who had made the sudden disturbance.

"Well hello Ms. Grande. Mr. Sykes."

The man nodded at the both of us. Nathan and I both turned to look at each other with confused eyes when our question was answered.

"How rude of me, I didn't introduce myself. My name is James Cain. I requested to speak with the both of you."

I quietly gasped under my breathe as I almost tripped on my own feet. I quickly leaned forward and curtsied in front of him as Nathan slightly bowed.

"Oh Mr. Cane. We are so sorry. Thank you so much for inviting us into your lovely home."

He slightly laughed before replying.

"Oh it really is nothing. I needed to speak with you about the impending doom of our species. As you know, the war between the vampires and the werewolves is upon us and we are not sure how well we can hold up against our enemies."

James slowly walked closer to us as he spoke. The concentration in his eyes were evident.

"I have had my people watching the two of you for quite some time now and they have reported that you are very strong fighters. With that in mind, we ask that you help us in the event anyone tries to attack our species."

I slowly nod at Mr. Cane before turning to look at Nathan. He has his eyes shut and he was looking down.

"I don't exactly know if that is the greatest idea, sir."

Mr. Cane narrowed his eyes and glared at Nathan. The hatred that Cane felt in that moment was immense. I could tell that Nathan's words had pissed Cane off.

"Why is that darling?"

I said grabbing Nathan's arm. I looked at him and gave him the lets-not-piss-off-the-man-who-could-easily-have-us-killed face.

"Well, I was just thinking that maybe it's not safe for you. The last thing I want is to see my soulmate get brutally killed in a war. That would kill me."

Cane's face softened at the sweet words that had come out of Nathan's mouth. I couldn't help but blush at what he had said. I reached over and grabbed his hand; we folded our hands together and looked at each other for a moment before Mr. Cane cleared his throat again.

"I'm sorry to interrupt this adorable moment here but I really need an answer. Our army will be unstoppable with the assistance of your exceptional powers. Your powers, Ariana, are quite amazing. Your speed could make us unbeatable. I think this would be an amazing opportunity for both of you. So?"

Nathan's gripped tightened momentarily before he took a deep breathe and nodded quickly.

"W-we'll do it."

I'm so so sorry that it's been awhile since I've updated. I started high school and I was having problems with anxiety and such the last year and I feel so bad for not updating but I'm back now and I'm going to try so hard to update more often.
