It's been almost a week, and Marissa still hasn't talked to Cameron. That was killing him inside. It was strange for him to feel this way, as he hadn't felt like this ever. Not even with Daphne.

To his astonishment, his past with Marissa did not hamper his current relationship will Olivia and Caleb as they were still talking to him and, whereas Ronny and Jenny were concerned, his sister was a bit more approachable than his future brother-in-law; not that he blamed him.

Fortunately for him that after lots of convincing and begging, he managed to persuade Olivia with his elder brother and sister-in-law's help to let him pick up his niece.

Olivia was hesitant but Caleb finally managed to crack his wife who allowed him to pick Brooklyn but he was not let go without a warning which he took it at heart.

So, presently, he was at the dance institute trying to build the courage to come face-to-face with Marissa and get past Ronny.

He knew that it was not going to be easy but he was ready for it even if it did earn him a slap or punch in the end.

He was about to knock when the voice stopped him.

"What the hell are you doing here?" When Cameron turned behind, it was Ronny, who had a frown on his face.

"I came to pick up Brook." He explained.

"Right! Like, I am going to believe that." Ronny retorted back sarcastically.

"Believe what you want. I owe nothing to you," Cameron told him. He narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms.

"Now, you listen to me, Mr. Cameron Bernard. I really don't give a shit that you are my fiancée's brother. You hurt my best friend, and no one gets away with doing that."

"I know what I did was wrong, and I regret everything..." Cameron was about to say more when he heard a loud scream from inside the class, which made both Ronny and him rush towards the source, only to find Marissa lying on the floor, holding her right ankle tightly in pain.

"God! Marissa, what happened?" Cameron asked her in concern.

"My ankle twisted," she cried, tears welling up.

"We need to get you to the hospital," Ronny said.

"I will take her there." Cameron volunteered.

"What makes you think that I am going to let you take her responsibility?" He interjected.

"Look, Ronny, I know that you are pissed at me, but at present, my primary concern is Marissa. She needs medical supervision, and you need to be here at the institute. I will update you. Please trust me." Cameron told him sincerely.

Something in Cameron stopped Ronny from arguing back.

"One last chance, Bernard." He told Cameron, to which he nodded gratefully.

Cameron then brought his focus back to Marissa. He saw that she had tears in her eyes.

"Can you walk?" He asks her.

"I can try." She tried to stand, but she only fell back into his arms. If it weren't for him, she would have fallen down on her butt.

Cameron picked up Marissa in his arms and carried her towards the car to take her to the hospital.

After fifteen minutes' drive, both of them reached their destination.

"Is she alright?" Cameron asked the doctor after he was done with the examination.

"She had twisted her ankle, which caused a sprain. She needs at least a week's proper rest with no strain on her ankle." He told them.

"I will make sure of it." After a few more discussions, Cameron took Marissa home to her room and placed her on the bed.

"Thank you for today," Marissa said. After what happened between them she did not expect him to help her.

But who was she kidding? Cameron was not a bad person. They were just put into an impossible position.

"You don't need to thank me." He told her with a small hesitant smile.

"You didn't have to take me to the hospital." She stated.

"Marissa, you are something special to me, believe it or not, and I am not saying this because of our past or what happened to you. I have made lots of mistakes in my life, and I have always accepted them. It's about time I make things right."

"Still, thank you." She told him. She was about to get up to take the ointment from the drawer in the room when Cameron stopped her.

"What do you think you are doing?" He asked her with his arms crossed.

"Taking my medicine." She shrugged her shoulders.

"The doctor told you to take a complete rest." He pointed out.

"Well, I know, but I need to take my medicine."

"Marissa, where are the meds?" He sighed while shaking his head in disapproval.

"In the drawer over there." She pointed out.

Cameron went towards the place she pointed to grab the medicine. He came back towards her and sat on the side of the bed, and took hold of her right leg in his hands.

"What are you doing...?" Marissa tried to ask him, but in reply, all she got was 'Shhh' from him.

Cameron gently removed the crepe bandage, spread the ointment, massaged her ankle a bit, and put the crepe bandage on it again. He took the pillow and placed it under her ankle. He then got up from bed and tucked her in.

Cameron was about to leave the room, but Marissa grabbed his hand.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked him. Her eyes were glistening with tears.

Cameron bent down on his knees and wiped away the unshed tears.

"Honestly, I don't know, but what I know is that I care about you. A lot. Now go to sleep; it's late." He kissed her forehead and went into the living room, and made himself comfortable on the couch.

It was past two in the morning, and Marissa was thirsty. She tried to get up from bed, but her leg was hurting too much. She tried to get the support of the side table to make her stand, but in the process, she dropped the empty glass, which caused a loud noise.

Cameron instantly got up when he heard the loud sound and immediately rushed into Marissa's room.

"Are you alright?" He asked her.

"I am fine. I was trying to get up, and the glass fell in the process. What are you still doing here?" She asked him about the confusion. It surprised her to see him still in her home.

"I was not going to let you take care of yourself on your own." He stated.

"Cameron, I can take care of myself. I have been doing that for years."

"But now you don't need to do that. You need proper rest, and you are going to get one."

"You are so stubborn." She huffed.

"Crib all you want. It won't affect me. You are forgetting that I have a little sister who throws the worst tantrums than you." He smirks.

"Whatever." In return, she crossed her arms.

"Why the hell were you even trying to get up?" He asked her with a frown.

"I was thirsty."

Her words instantly made Cameron go to the kitchen to grab her a glass of water.

"Thanks again."

Marissa was ready to sleep again, but she couldn't resist asking him.

"You are not leaving, are you?" She expected him to stay in.

"Never," Cameron replied with a smile.
