He shifted his head opening his eyes.  I stared at him probably creepily as he woke up.  He looked at me then looked at my arms around him.

"What the-"

"I was watching from a distance in case you needed something but you started freaking out in your sleep and you didn't calm down until I held you.  Sorry" I moved away from him.

"It's fine" he sat up rubbing his head.  "You don't have to apologize.  Thank you for doing that"

"You're welcome.  I don't know if you're up for this but I would like you to stay today just until I know you'll be safe again"

"What do you mean until you know I'm safe again?" He asked.  I stood up.

"Well, I got some of my men to arrest Brendon" I said.

"No!" he screamed.  I jumped "No his friends they'll hurt me.  They'll hurt me worse than Brendon ever did-"

"Patrick what's that on your wrist?" I asked cutting him off.  He looked at his wrist and pulled the sleeve over it.

"Nothing" he said.  I grabbed his wrist.  He didn't stop me.  I pulled the sleeve up to his shoulder.  The sight was horrific.

"Oh my god" I mumbled.  I ran my fingers up the burn marks that ran up his arms "These are cigarette burns" I mumbled "This is why you always wear a cardigan.  It's professional and long enough to hide the burns" I started unbuttoning it.  He took a shaky breath when I pulled it off of him.  More burns ran up this other arm.  "Oh my god Patrick"

"A-and my back" he whispered.  I grabbed his T shirt and pulled it off.  They were on his chest as well.  His back was the worst though.  I turned him around running my hands over the burns.  "They're punishments.  Whenever I would mess up he'd put his cigarette out on me"

"How long have you been with him?" I asked.

"Three years" he whispered.  I wanted to throw up looking at this.  This was awful.  How could anyone do this to him?

"Oh my god" I mumbled.

"I'm sorry" he mumbled.

"For what?" I asked.

"I don't know" he laughed a little "I'm just so used to saying sorry" There was one burn that stuck out to me.  It looked bigger than a cigarette.  Right on his neck.  I leaned down and kissed it gently.  He sighed shakily but in pleasure.

"I-I don't understand.  You're married" He whispered.  I hugged his waist.

"There's a lot the public doesn't know about me Patrick" I kissed his cheek.  "A lot you don't know about me"

"I-I"

"Sh.  It's okay.  I'll make sure you're safe now" He nodded.  "I have to go.  I have a country to run.  Everyone knows you're here.  If you need anything I'm in the oval office and if I'm unavailable ask for Ashlee.  She's the best one here.  The only one who knows anything about me"

"Thank you" he whispered.  I kissed his cheek again.  He turned around and grabbed my chin.  He pressed a kiss to my nose and smiled.

"I thought you were gonna kiss me" I laughed.

"Nah.  Not yet.  It's too early in the story for that"  he winked and I smiled.
