Vampires could move at incredible speed. They could go around the whole world in twenty-five seconds. That's why it worried me that they had both stared right at me. If we were all their targets, we barley had chance to live. I thanked god I was an angel, so I had one special power other than flying. And my special power was to be in control of the element of fire. I was a Leo, after all. But there was one little problem; I couldn't use any of my powers with Amy around. We were so screwed. At least we had made it out of town and into a clearing in the woods.
"Why are we running!?" Amy shouted at me. Not a second later, one of the two vampires appeared in front of Jack's horse, spooking it.
"LELA!" Jack screeched, trying to get Majesty back under control. But no matter what he did, he couldn't get her calm. Majesty started bucking, and then ran back off towards town. "HELP!" His words faded away like soap bubbles.
"Aw, precious." The first vampire said, and I saw a feint grin form on his lips.
The second vampire appeared by his side. "Completely." He replied. "Oh, and look at that. Little mis Angel has a little sister."
I glared at them. "How do you know me?" They simultaneously tapped taped their temples. How could I have forgotten to shield my thoughts? I clamped them down and continued to glare.
"Lela, what's going on?" My eyes softened as I turned around to face Amy.
"So cute." Said the first. "Little one hasn't even grown her wings yet." He smirked.
"W-wings?" Amy stuttered.
My anger flared, and I jumped off October and approached them. "Both of you shut up right now."
"Or what?" They asked. My hands flickered with fire. There were only three ways to kill a vampire. A steak, the sun, (Only if they've bit a human, witch they obviously have,) and fire. I forced my hands into fists, dousing the flame.
"You know she can't find out yet." I whispered.
"And do we look like we care?" Asked the first. "No." And I broke. I grabbed the first's arm, forcing him out of his precious shade and into the sun. Before either had time to react, I took off his fedora and grabbed his hair, forcing his face to the sun.
He screamed at the top of his lungs and I barley got a look at his too-pale face-he was quite handsome, actually- before his skin turned a bright red and started to bubble. It spread like wildfire through his system, and in only a couple of seconds, all that was left of him was ash. Now it was Amy's turn to scream. The second man's fangs dropped and he glared at me. Woops. The last thing I had meant to do was piss off a vampire right in front of Amy.
I took two steeps away from him, closer to Amy, and whispered, "You have to get out of here now. I swear to god I'll explain everything later. Just kick October and hold onto her mane. She knows where to go."
The vampire's eyes turned an iridescent red and stayed that way in his anger.
I could imagine her shaking her head before she said, "I'm not leaving you."
The vampire took a step closer, nearing the edge of his shade.
"Amy, please. just trust me."
He took two more steps, completely out of the shade and shielded by the leather he was wearing.
"No."
He took one more step.
"GOD DAMIT, AMY! GET OUT NOW!"
I looked over at her for a split second, her small, adorable eyes wide, her long brown hair somewhat hanging in her face. But she still didn't budge. I slapped October hard on her rump, and she immediately got the gesture and started to gallop. If I had looked away a second too soon, I would have missed what Amy did next. She mouthed, 'I love you', and a small tear rolled down her cheek, 'I love you, too.' I mouthed back. A split second after that, I was tackled by an insanely pissed off vampire. Amy disappeared into the clearing.
Once she was gone, my wings grew out of my back at amazing speed that amazed even me, and fire shot from my palms. He ducked, barley avoiding the flame. I pointed my hand at him again, and was about to shoot when he used his speed and I momentarily couldn't tell where he was. But that changed immediately when I felt a hand slam me to the ground from behind. I tried to move, but he jumped on top of me, I struggled, but his grip was that of one thousand men. He inhaled, his face trailing from my chest to my neck. Bastard. If he thought he was going to rape me...
What he did next only surprised me because I was an angel, not human. He opened his mouth and bit into my neck.
I screamed at the top of my lungs, but immediately stopped, as I was already having a problem staying calm without being dizzy. I felt lightheaded and could taste my own blood in my mouth. I thought I could hear Amy call my name, but I couldn't be sure, as I could hear my heartbeat in my ears louder than anything else. I felt like I could literally feel my soul nearing the edge, ready to go to Heaven forever. I forced myself to stay conscious, as I hoped to god it would keep me alive longer, wanting more than everything else in the world to grow up with Amy, to move her away from the abuse at our 'home' and keep her safe from situations just like these. Right now I could have been her, laying on the ground, seconds away from death, but have no idea what was going on. Sadly, I did. And I knew I was about a few seconds away from death by the way I could literally feel my soul starting to slip from my body. But it was forced back in when the vampire pulled back.
He looked at me, blood-my blood-dripping from one corner of his mouth, his expression unreadable. It stayed like this, and even though I couldn't have gotten up if I had wanted to, he stayed on top of me, as if I would catch a second wind and somehow overpower him. Doubtful. But after five more seconds, he smiled down at me, as if I had just passed some extremely important test. I saw my blood drip from his fangs.
"Finally." He said, his voice even, controlled, collected. But extremely excited. "After thousands of years, the first successful transformation." He trailed his long pointer finger down my face. "And you will be my little slave."
I twitched my face away. "Not in your wildest dreams."
He didn't seem to have heard me. "Oh, and thanks for killing my friend over there. I thought I would have to do it myself." He twirled a long wooden stake with a silver pointed tip in his fingers. His smile widened, showing off his bloodied fangs further. "Of course I had thought to use your little sister-Amy, is it?- after you didn't work, but since you did, she can just be a tiny snack." He gave me a second for his words to sink in before he moved off me and was gone.
I heard Amy scream at the top of her lungs.
You guys owe me BIG TIME! Since my chapters have been too short, I made this one pretty long. P.s., I'm writing this at 12:30 at night and I have to get up early tomorrow, or more like, today. Again, you all owe me big time.
