Despite myself, the minute the door had shut behind Michel, a small tear escaped from my misty eyes. Jack was in a room full of slayers. Jack had hated Cy and Michel for no reason. He hunted vampires the way vampires hunted humans.

And now I was a half-blood.

Cy cleared his throat. "Um, thanks for standing up for us, Lela." He said awkwardly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

Another tear. Without turning around, I replied, "What's family for?"

One side of Michel's mouth moved upwards, and as he put a hand on my shoulder, I leaned into him, my body shaking and shivering with sobs. At one point, I felt Cy's arms wrap around me and Michel, but I didn't care. I had finally found my boyfriend, my best friend, and now he hates me. And there was absolutely nothing I could do.

I pulled backwards, wiping my eyes, angry at myself for making myself vulnerable. "Thanks. I-I'm fine. Sorry."

They looked at me a second longer, concern written over every inch of their faces. But I just shook my head and kept walking. After a slight moment of hesitation, I heard soft footsteps follow me through the long bright white hallway.

From there, it was easy to get to the dorm. There were a few signs directing us, almost as if we were at a hotel. We winded up down and around the large building, seeing-and smelling-many different things. But when we reached the tall wooden door, I stopped, having absolutely no idea what awaited me from the behind. I looked over my shoulder at Cy and Michel, and with their nods, I opened the door.

It was exactly like a collage dorm room, from what I had seen of from pictures online. There were chairs, couches, and loveseats, and surrounding them were flat-screen TV's, Wii's with installed Wii Fit, claw machines, and Xbox 1's. The only thing that I really hadn't expected was for all the people to start staring at me.

The majority of them were dressed from head to toe in black, and for a split-second, my heart fluttered happily. But that was when I remembered about how we were all dressed in things we would never be caught dead wearing. I did, however, see a small group of three sitting in the back, completely decked out in pink, from their shoes to their hair. Of course, I had all the time in the world to examine this when the time was stopped.

Cy and Michel were right; there really was every kind of creature here. Although, the more evil they were, they more popular they seemed to be. The ones with gleaming red horns and tails, many of the ones with fangs, and the werewolf boys in human form sat in big clustered groups by the flat-screens and Xbox 1's. However, the angels and girl werewolves mostly sat amongst themselves or with one other person. The little group dressed pink that I had noticed before was a mix of one vampire, one half-blood, and one angel.

When time started again, I held my head up, straightened my shoulders, and began to walk forward. That was, until one girl especially dressed in black, completed with blood red lipstick and died midnight black hair, stepped in front of me. I raised my eyebrows. "Can I help you?" I asked her. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and laughed.

"You don't recognize me, Lela?" She asked, a voice so soft and sweet it made me want to throw up. And it was that voice that led me to remember exactly who she was.

I let out a breath of shock that probably sounded more like a cough. "Rachel?"

She smiled, crossing her long tan arms, cocking her head that I just noticed had horns. I always knew she was a demon. She held out her hand, touching my nose three times. "Ding ding ding."

Out of everyone at my old school, Rachel was easily the meanest. I was positive she planned most of the pranks, and she was one of the people on that bus throwing darts. AND, since all creatures have heightened senses, I would bet on the fact that she was the one that busted my phone. I swatted her hand away and crossed my arms over my chest.
