~6. Will You Be My Duet?~

•••Neru's POV•••
I was devastated. One of my bestest friends got involved in an accident, almost getting hit by a car and falling down a cliff and almost drowning. Why wasn't Kaito there? Why wasn't he there to protect her?

I was sitting in the middle of class, staring blankly at the board that displayed different instruments. We were meant to name them but i barely heard the teacher call my name that i almost got sent to detention. Mrs Muse didn't though. Instead she let me off since she heard about Miku.

Mrs Muse: Just atleast try to pay attention

I nodded and began scribbling random drawings on my book. While we had free time before break, Len dragged his desk beside me, rubbing my back for comfort.

Len: I won't ask the typical question, instead i'll ask 'do you want to visit her after school?'

I turned to face Len and faintly smiled, unexpectedly jumping off my seat and into his arms.

•••Len's POV•••

I hugged Neru tightly, overjoyed that she wanted to hug me. It was our second but it felt like our first.

I didn't ask her if she was alright because clearly she's not. Maybe i'll confess about Kaito cheating on Miku later. She's been suffering quite a lot right now.

Neru hugged my arm as Kaito, her and i exited school, heading to the hospital.

I secretly glanced at Kaito and he looked horrible. Dark eyebags were under his blue eyes, his skin was paler than grey and he walked like a zombie.

Len: Why do you look...

Kaito: Dead?

I nodded, a little guilty of asking.

Kaito: Well what do you expect? My girlfriend got into an accident. What would you do if Neru was in the hospital?

Neru looked up at me and i was extremely blushing. I whacked Kaito in the face as i laughed hysterically, trying to laugh at his 'joke'.

Len: Kaito you're so funny!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

We managed to reach the hospital safely. Kaito was still a zombie while Neru was like an innocent little girl that was afraid of strangers.

We were directed to Miku's assigned room by a nurse and before she could even completely open the door, Kaito pushed her out of the way and raced to Miku's side. He held her hand, and pressed it against his face in worrisome. I frowned at my friend sadly and Neru gently held my hand as she softly dragged me towards Miku's bed.

Nurse: Half an hour

The nurse closed the door and left, leaving the room to silence. Kaito quietly sobbed as he stared at Miku's bruised face. Her heart beat was fine so that's good but it seems that her torso was badly injured. Neru bobbed down as she looked at Miku in horror. I stood by her side and held her shoulder as she sobbed on the bed. Kaito tried to keep a strong face but broke down and had to leave immediately, before Miku could see him if she woke up.

When half an hour was over, Neru and i started walking back to school. She was quiet and mostly stared down at her feet but still held my hand.

I know it probably isn't the right time but i want to ask her so bad...

I watched as my feet took each step but was immediately stopped when Len stood in front of me and shortly kneeling, holding my hand.

Len: Neru, will you be my duet?
