"Whats going on?" Jason asks walking up to me.
"Assembly" i frown at him.
The Wolf rolled his eyes and my and ruffled my hair. "I got that much. I mean, why?"
I looked up the Jason, his brown hair falling over his eyes and his smile was relaxed. That's one thing in common i noticed about Vampires and Werewolves. Most seemed pretty relaxed and laid back. Well, that was until they were fighting. I could smell Jason from where i stood, aftershave and deodorant mixed with an undertone of spice. He smelled like male, his scent filling the air around him. I bit my lip wondering how much to tell him. "You'll find out later"
He cocked his head and nodded slowly. "Okay then" he looked towards the doors we were nearing. Angel was ahead of us with Emily and some other girls i didn't know. She glanced back to look at me before turning back around to talk. It was strange that even with her standing 20 meters away with heaps of people between us she made me feel safe.
We slowly made our way into the autoturium, everyone sitting on the floor like dogs and i suppressed my eye roll. We weren't kids.
Miss Fray stood up, the microphone in front of her even though she wasn't going to use it. When everyone was settled she raised her hands and the room went quiet. "Last night there was a tragic accident. Someone was killed in our school" She raised her voice as people gasped and murmured softly. "The person killed was one of our School mates, one of the older school Wolves, Heath Morsen"
My blood ran cold. Heath was killed? No... it was all cause i he had helped me... Guilt filled me and i tried to swallow the lump in my throat. Someones hand slipped into mine and squeezed my hand. I looked back and saw Jason, his eyes calm and sober. Miss Fray continued unaware of how guilty i suddenly felt. "He was murdered in one of the school rooms. The room occupants were moved out of the room last night since it was not safe for them and we ask anyone with any intimation to step forward"
Miss Fray paused and her gaze swept the room calmly. "Classes will be resumed tomorrow and Heaths funeral will be held in two weeks time. If anyone has any question please feel free to ask. Dismissed" she then nodded to us and stepped away from the mic.
My mind reeled as everyone stood up. Jason pulled me up, his free hand braced under my arm. I felt numb even when Jason's warm skin brushed mine. "Come on. Let get you some place else" he slowly lead me towards the door, glancing over at me ever few seconds.
'when Angel suddenly was on me. She glanced at Jason before tugging on my arm slightly. "Kat, we have to talk" her voice was urgent and she looked alarmed.
"What is it" I looked up at my friend and pulled myself together.
Angel glanced at Jason who looked around. "I'll just go, you are in capable hands" he then turned and walked away, his back strait as he walked towards his friends.
"Do you smell that?" She ask and sniffed the air. "Cinnamon and garlic, faint, but it's there"
I took a deep breath and she was right, under all the smells of other people it was their, so faint it was like it was a ghost of someone. "Yeah" I nodded and my head cleared of the sorrow enough for me to focus.
Angel watched me for a while then smiled. "I'm sorry, about Heath" she pulled me into a hug and held me.
I tried not to think about him and tried to change the subject. "Thanks....um...why'd you send Jason away?"
Angel pulled back and looked at me. "I don't know if we can trust him. If we tell him he might tell others and the kill might find out we know...and...." She took her head, her blond hair shivered from the moment and swayed around her shoulders. "It's may not be him but we don't know who we can trust. We don't even know is we can trust vampires or witch's or shifters or..anyone"
"That's silly" i say shaking my head.
"Anyone could be a friend to the killer, all it takes is one slip" Angel looked down at me and smiled sympathetically. "Oh Kat"
"No, your right" I clearly wasn't thinking right. I started towards the door again, Angel trotting after me. That's when i caught a glimpse of a girl looking at us. She was glaring at us, her eyes cold and mean enough to make me shiver. The girl looked fermilia but before i could place her she swept out of the room, black hair swaying wildly as she stalked away. I glanced at Angel was looking around carefully.
Maybe we were wrong. Maybe it wasn't a guy. Maybe, maybe it was a girl
