Crime.
He hated the word, and wouldn't hesitate burning anyone associated with that word. Crime killed his parents. Crime is what started wars. Crime is what tore families apart. His goal was to rid the world of crime. He had to climb the ladder of course in order to that obviously. But he was determined. He was determined to stop any criminal, at any costs. This man lived in a time where technology revolved around a science called alchemy. Alchemy was an almighty science. Those who knew it, had simple rules to follow. An alchemist can not create anything from nothing. In order to obtain something, something of equal value must be given in return, and you cannot bring someone back from the dead. There also two laws that an alchemist must abide by. The law of Conversation of Mass which explains that energy and matter can not be created from nothing or destroyed even. The second law of alchemy is called the law of Natural Providence. It explains that an object or material made of a certain substance can only be transmuted with an object of similar material. There are three stages of alchemy. Construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Since the forces that are being controlled, aren't entirely by humans, there's consequences. These consequences happen when someone tries to forgo the laws of Equivalent Exchange. Rebounds happen when alchemy is thrown off balance, and too much is happening for something small. Rebounds result in the exchange taking more than what's being traded is worth. However, there is a line within alchemy, that should never be crossed. And that line? It's something called human transmutation. People often use it to bring someone back from the dead. It's been attempted by various alchemists, but none were reported to have actually worked. Was it because no one has actually survived the rebound that happened? Or is it because their soul was given up in return? The true answer may never be uncovered. So what does alchemy have to do with this man? Well, this man is an alchemist. The famous Flame Alchemist to be exact. He was a hero in the eyes of everyone in that town. He was a man of justice to them, he caught any criminal he was supposed to. But that was the outside. In the office he worked at, his fellow cops found him lazy, usually asleep on his desk, never filling out his paper work, like he was supposed to. His name? Why it's Roy Mustang.
There's another. He doesn't believe in God, and religion. If there was such a thing called God, then why didn't he receive help, when he needed it? Why didn't someone save him, when he lay on the ground, bleeding out because someone attacked him? This man, was also an alchemist. He believes that alchemy is the one true science, and everything can be explained with alchemy. He's also a firm believer of Equivalent Exchange. Hell, his life revolved around that one very important law of alchemy. However, nobody really knows who this man really is. His line of work however, is a dangerous one. There's one promise to his job. He never kills. He's worked like this since he was 15, now 18. Not a lot of information is even known about him. The only thing that escaped was this: he has a steel arm, and leg. Which gave the man the nick name, Fullmetal. Anything else, is unknown. This hidden man's name? It's Edward. Edward Elric.
Dark, onyx eyes stared at the piece of paper placed in front of him. "Here's the latest case Sir." A blonde man stated, at the age of 17. He had short golden hair, and kind amber eyes. The raven haired man simply smiled, his eyes beginning to look over the paper work. "Thank you Alphonse. I'll look over all of this later, when I'm not half asleep."
