What He Wants

I stared at him. "What?"
"I want to have kids, with you"
"Uhh" I scratched my eyebrow. "Don't you want to wait a few years or something"
"No I don't want to wait until I'm old and wrinkly"
"Not that long but we both have a lot going on for us and do you really think right now is the time?"
"Yes I do"
"Well... I don't"
His smiled faded. "What?"
"I mean...." I tried to think of something to say. It's not that I don't want to have kids. It's just that I'm afraid, what if when I get fat he decides he doesn't want kids anymore, or when we do have kids he thinks he not good enough to be a father and leave me. "I've been on the pill for so long what if I can't have kids"
"You can, trust me you can" his smile came back.
I felt guilty by only thinking of myself so I said. "Fine"
He laughed. "Great, we can try for a girl"
"Oh no" I shook my head. "No"
"What?"
"I want a boy"
"What?" He laughed again. "Why?"
"Cause I like boys and girls are always mean"
"Well, I like girls"
"I don't care. I want twin boys"
"Noooooooo!" He grabbed my hand and we started walking again. "Not twins. Hell to the naw"
"What, why not?"
"Cause my cousin has twin boys and they bad"
I laughed. "Well our kids won't be bad"

We walked back to our car and drove home. A lot went through my mind. I was happy but I was sad. I don't want to have kids because I don't want me and David's relationship messed up. But I do want kids because they are the miracles of life. I want to tell him how I feel but I don't want him to be mad at me. I love him so much and I don't want to loose him, I would do anything for him. Even if it means having kids when I'm not ready.
