Selena's POV

I sat in the little Italian restaurant with my hands folded, an untouched plate of pasta in front of me. My stomach growled in hunger but my brain was screaming at me not to eat. I checked my watch again, sighing in exasperation. It was one o'clock. If Danny didn't turn up soon I was going to eat the pasta and go, no matter where he was or what excuses he gave.

Half an hour later, I walked out of the restaurant with my headphones in at full blast, and a scowl upon my face. I flipped my hood up as the rain began to fall and turned up the music even more. My taste in music had changed significantly over the last few months. No more Script songs, most of them replaced by FooFighters or Stereophonics. Then again, I had changed significantly. I didn't wear bright colours anymore, just black. My legs were turning to ice inside my ripped skinny jeans, and my black leather boots were making splashes in the puddles. I wore a plain black hoodie, and my eyes were framed by dark eyeliner, which was slowly starting to run down my face in the rain. It was the nearly the middle of winter, and the rain was slowly turning into sleet.

With a scowl, I wiped a hand under my eye and sure enough, it was smudged with black. I probably looked like a clown but I didn't care. I kept walking, feeling my body slowly freeze up. A hand suddenly grabbed my shoulder and I whirled, yanking my hood down. Facing me was that stupid face that had been stuck in my mind for months.

"Danny."

Danny's POV

I sprinted from my car to the restaurant, ignoring the strange stares and the pouring rain. It was freezing. Glancing at my watch again, I cursed. It was half past one. She was probably gone.

I skidded to a halt as I reached the entrance, yanking the door open and heading straight to the hostess. Breathing heavily, I spoke.

"Reservation... Under... Darte?" The woman shook her head.

"I'm sorry, she left a few minutes ago." She replied apologetically. I banged my fist on the table and scowled.

"Shit." Then my brain kicked in. "Thanks!" I cried, running out again. She can't have gotten that far. I began to search like a madman, looking for any dark haired girls. Five extremely confused women later, I noticed the girl dressed all in black. I knew those battered combat boots. Sprinting over to her, I touched her shoulder. Whirling, she pulled her hood down.

"Danny." She said my name and I smirked.

"Morning L." I replied. Lena raised an eyebrow and pulled out her headphones, I could hear the music from where I was, it was that loud.

"It's afternoon." She clarified.

"Oh. Um... So?" I ran out of words. I really should've thought about what to say.

"Shall we?" She indicated to the nearest bench and I nodded. The rainclouds were starting to fade away and slowly it stopped. I ran a hand through my soaked hair and sat down on the wet bench. I was already soaked to the skin, as was Lena.

The silence was so... Silent. God, it was awkward.

"You need to shave." Lena finally spoke from beside me. I ran a hand down one cheek, feeling the rough stubble on my fingertips. With a lopsided smile, I shrugged.

"So... What do you wanna talk 'bout?" I asked. Lena rolled her eyes.

"You refused to talk to me for six bloody months." She stated. "I think that's a good place to start." I scowled.

"You never exactly tried to contact me!" I defended. "It's you who should apologise." Lena gave me a death glare. God, it was scary.

"Danny, I tried to..." She trailed off as her phone began to blast an unknown song. With a roll of her eyes Lena answered it. I folded my hands across my lap awkwardly.

"Hello?" There was a short pause. "Erm... He's kinda sat in front of me." Another pause. "Do you really wanna know? He said I should apologise." A shout came from the phone. "No I am not giving him the phone Sam!"

I snapped my head up. Sam? Sam was ok? I missed what Lena said next, then she hung up, noticing my expression.

"Yeah, Sam's back by the way." She said. I nodded.

"Um... She ok?" I asked.

"She's fine, came home last week." Lena replied. "Where were we?"

"You tried to..." I clarified and Lena nodded.

"Oh yeah, well I tried to call you but I didn't know what to say, so I went to see Sam, and she woke up and I kinda, forgot about everything else." I raised an eyebrow.

"Forgot? It was all over the papers for three weeks."

"Hey I was in hospital everyday!" Lena was getting more annoyed by the second. "And besides, after Ridley did that, I didn't exactly wanna see a paper." I held up my hands.

"There you go! The truth is out!" I cried in victory. Lena glared at me in fury.

"You know, I never really thought about it, but you're really cruel Danny." She said quietly.

Selena's POV

As soon as I saw the look on his face I regretted my words. He looked like I'd stabbed him in the heart. I'm pretty sure that's what I just did.

"Why would you say that?" He asked. I closed my eyes.

"Because that's what I feel." I answered slowly. "You didn't even call me, not even to see if it was my fault or not. You just took Ridley's word as truth like the rest of the world. And look where it got us." I took a deep breath and continued with my speech. "Cat won't speak to me. Lea, she pretty much wants to murder me. The one person I needed was you, and you weren't there." I let out my breath and looked Danny straight in the eye.

"You done?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. I nodded firmly. "Ok. Well, I want you to know that...." He seemed to struggle with his words. "I missed you. A lot. And you annoyed me because you never bothered to explain either. I assumed..." I cut him off.

"You assumed that it was me who did it." I said quietly. Danny nodded slightly and looked down at his shoes.

"Yeah."

"Do you wanna know what really happened?" I asked. The Irishman nodded again and I launched into my account. "Look, Ridley texted me to say Lea and him had had a bust up, so I told him to come round for a chat. He looked in a really bad way, so I made him a coffee and talked to him. He said he didn't want Lea back, he wanted me, so then he started talking about how if he couldn't have me, neither could you, then he grabbed me and kissed me and there was this flash which turns out was a camera and then he left." And breathe. Danny stared at me in confusion.

"Really?"

"Yes." Danny looked unconvinced.

"I can't just carry on like nothing happened." He said quietly.

"I don't expect you to."

"Well, let's just stay friends then." My heart felt like it had been split in two, but I nodded anyway. Anything was better than nothing.

"Ok." Danny smiled at my answer and gave me a quick hug. God it hurt. This was gonna be hard.
