When I got to work, Ms. Hale was already in her office. I panicked, thinking I was late rushing her coffee to her but ended up spilling the piping hot coffee all over me. GREAT! I am going to smell like a pumpkin spiced latte all day, better yet I am going to have to get Ms. Hale another coffee. I was just sneaking out to get her a new coffee when...
'Kira!' Yelled Ms. Hale, stopping me in my tracks.
'Yes?' I asked nervously, looking down at the front of my top and trying to cover the spilled pumpkin spiced latte with my hands.
'Come here.' Ms. Hale asked calmly, which scared me even more then angry Ms. Hale. I walked back into her office slouching.'Yes, Ms. Hale?' I questioned nervously.
'Stop slouching, I know you spilt my coffee and I will send you to get me another one in the moment but if you haven't noticed, I was here early. I have been here since 7:30 in the morning because I have to find a temporary replacement for you. I have gone through 6 girls already and they are all total idiots! Could you go and quickly interview each one and just send home the obvious idiots, but do that after you go and get me a new coffee. Oh, and make it extra large, I'll need it if I'm going to get through all these interviews today.' Ms. Hale stopping finally after all he ranting.I had gone to get Ms. Hale her coffee, extra large, and come back to see the line of people that were here for the personal assistant had grown longer, much longer. I quickly rushed to the front of the line and took the first girl into a spare office. I asked her the basic questions; how old she is, did she have experience in this area, what was her previous job and where could she see herself in 10 years. her answers were pretty average but not idiotic so I told her to go to the top office and Ms. hale will be waiting there. The next girl was sent in and I asked the same questions, but she was very inexperienced and I couldn't see her working as a personal assistant to one of the most powerful woman in National City. So I told her she could go home, rest and she would be hearing from us soon.
Before lunch I had gone through about one third of the girls that wanted the job, quite a few of the girls I interviewed were quite capable and I was starting to worry if they would actually take over my job if I was gone long enough. My lunch break was over in what seems like no time at all. I was back interviewing the girls, until finally at 4:30 I had finished the last of the interviews. So I headed up towards Ms. Hales office and took a seat at my desk, the girls waiting to go into Ms. Hales office was quite long and obscured my view into Ms. Hales office. I could also see that the extra girls in the room were causing a disturbance amongst the full time employees, they were all blocking the the way of the stairs down to the other apartments. I could see James trying to squeeze through the girls, a few trying to flirt with him but he kept pushing through until he got to my desk.
'Hey Kara' he said to me a little out of breath from trying to get past all the girls.
'Hey! It's very crowded isn't it?' I mentioned chuckling, some of the girls giving me menacing glares as if I had taken something from them it was frightening!
'Yes, very. Anyway why are all these people here, is there an interview?' he questioned.
'Oh, Yes. There is an interview for a personal assistant and Ms. Hale is re-located me to Beacon Hills. Heard of it? Anyway an old friend of hers needs some help and apparently Ms. Hale thinks it will be a good idea if she sent me over to help!' I huffed, annoyed. A slight frown settled on James' face as he sadly stared at me and said 'Really? I have just gotten to know you and now you are being shipped off to some town that probably has no cell service!' I gasped at the fact of no cell service, that would be a horror story in itself. I quickly open up my computer and look up if there is cell service in Beacon Hills.
Phew, okay I can calm down, there was cell service in Beacon Hills. When I got home I started packing franticly, making sure I didn't miss anything I packed; Clothes, Shoes, toiletries, all my devices, important work files, all my school study books, reading books, money, and all my folders for school and anything else that I thought I might need. When I finally finished I had 1 big suitcase and 2 boxes that were full to the brim with stuff that I probably won't even use, but all that stuff reminded me of my younger life. I also had a few photos in delicate frames, I had one of me and Alex at a picnic we had down at the beach, one of mum with Alex, one was with Dad before he passed, and the last one was of all of us when I had first arrived on earth, I was so happy then. I started to tear up as I looked through them, missing the time when we were a full and happy family living peacefully in that cottage with the weathered wooden tree house out the front and the rusty tiles on the roof where me and Alex would sit and talk forever. I remember when I first showed her my powers, she was so excited and I was so happy that there was at least one person I could trust with all my secrets.
As I was remembering these memories that had just resurfaced, I spotted the picture that James took of Clark. Still mesmerised with its beauty I packed it careful not to tear it. Well I thought I will have to get rid of the contents in the fridge so it won't spoil I smiled at myself knowing that I only kept ice cream in my fridge, so I put a movie on and got all of my ice cream and spread them out across the coffee table. If only Alex was here to share these with me. Wait a second, Alex gets back tomorrow night! I would have already left by then. I won't get to say goodbye. I think sadly, a frown settles on my face as I sit down and start eating the cookie dough ice cream.
My smile quickly vanished as the movie comes on, it is a rom-com. YAS! My favourite, just the right amount of romance and comedy. I was halfway through the movie when I suddenly started worrying about school, not necessarily the work, but the friends. When I was in school the only friend I had was Alex, everyone else said I was weird. I frowned at the thought as I took off my glasses to take a look at them, my vision changing to x-ray then back to my normal vision. I could control it, unlike in school when I was younger, I had a breakdown in the middle of class and I don't want that to happen again but I'm sure I can control.
Okay. I decide that I won't wear my glasses at school, I'll bring them just in case because my powers could suddenly go spastic. I turned the TV off when the movie finished and chucked all of the empty ice cream containers in the bin, I'll have to empty the bin in the morning, I thought to myself, chuckling. As I laid down on my bed I couldn't help but being kind of glad for this chance to have some real friends in high school and maybe learn something new.
I drifted off to sleep slowly thinking of what Beacon Hills was going to be like. Then a thought came into my head this is the last time I will sleep in this bed for a while, I'll miss it. And I fell asleep.
