The terms himedere (ひめデレ) and oujidere (おうじデレ) come from the Japanese words "hime" (ひめ), which means princess, and "ouji" (おうじ), which means prince. Both himederes and oujideres consider themselves royal and wish to be treated like royality by the one they love.

Great examples of himedere and oujidere characters are Mio Aoyama from "Kami Nomi Zo Shiru Sekai" and Takane Saibara from "Takane to Hana".
