A mayadere (まやデレ) is a character who starts off as a dangerous antagonist, but switches sides after falling in love with another character however, the mayadere character remains deadly and unpredictable to everyone.
Great examples of mayadere characters are Kurumi Tokisaki from "Date A Live", Elizasleyn from "Kamidori Alchemy Meister", Golden Darkness from "To Love-Ru", and Illyasviel von Einzbern from "Fate/Stay Night".
