HOLY CRAP THIS IS A REALLY OLD ONE SHOT I WROTE AND I CAN'T BELIEVE I NEVER POSTED IT.  HERE. Bold is the story.

"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" The young girl called to her dad as he tucked her in.

"Yes Sara darling (I'm sorry)?" He asked as his daughter finally lied down.

"Can you tell us a story? Please!" The little girl asked with a gleam in her eyes. The father chuckled before sitting down on the foot of her bed, facing his son's bed.

"Stowy Tim!" The little boy cheered as he clapped his chubby little hands (sorry, baby talk and babies in general are just adorable). The father smiled and took in a deep breath.

"Okay, so once upon a time, there was a brave captain named Frags, who was part of the TBNR Squad. This brave Captain Frags was the owner of a beautiful ship named Woofless. Woofless was a trusty ship that lasted through everything. Captain Frags and Woofless were the greatest duo on the sea, as many people would say. They braved the greatest storms of existence, with little to no damage to either. They seemed to be inseparable; no pair was better fit for each other than Captain Frags and Woofless. Or so they thought.

But one day, Captain Frags caught another sailor on his beautiful ship. At first he was enraged with this other sailor, wanting to throw him off the ship, until he remembered something. This poor sailor probably had no idea that the ship was his. He had never properly put claim upon the ship, wanting to test the ship's loyalty first. And this event made him glad that he hadn't put his claim on the ship. Perhaps it would have stopped the situation, but what if it didn't? He'd like to believe the sailor meant no harm. So he left the ship with its new sailor, wishing them the best of luck. And he remained mad at that ship for the longest time, some would say even to today. But this brave Captain Frags found himself a new ship, one much more trustworthy and willing of his captaining. He lived the rest of his life on this ship. And sometimes, a bad storm would brew again. But he pushed through, with his trusty ship keeping him safe rather than the other way around." He finished, standing up and walking out of the room. He slowly closed the door and turned around to see his wife looking at him with tears in her eyes.

"You're still not over-" His wife began but he stopped her.

"Don't even try that."

"You never gave either of them a second chance." She pointed out.

"I wanted to love but-"

"Daddy! I didn't get to ask!" The little girl cooed as she ran into her father's leg.

"What was that darling?" He asked as he picked up his daughter and carried her back to bed.

"Why didn't he ever forgive his ship? I mean, yeah he messed up. But you yourself said that everyone makes mistakes and you should always do your best to forgive them."

"Sara." Her mother scolded from the door.

"What?"

"Don't scold her dear. She's just curious about her bedtime story. I'd love to tell you both." He cleared his throat. "As you asked, there was a good question many asked about Captain Frags. Why hadn't he forgiven his ship? Well, he truly wanted to. He wanted to tell his sweet ship Woofless that he didn't hate him for what he'd done. But you see, this sailor who took over Woofless wasn't quite as careful when sailing Woofless. And when a great storm hit the pair, the sailor couldn't save both the ship and them. So they abandoned the ship, leaving it to get lost at sea. And when they returned to dry land, they just moved on to another ship. But Captain Frags swore to never forget his dear ship Woofless and thinks of that ship every day." He looked at his wife to see her covering her mouth as tears ran down her face.

"Why's mommy so sad?" The girl asked.

"Mommy didn't like the sad ending to the story. I never told her that part before. I'll go cheer her up, just go to sleep Sara." The young girl fell asleep and her father stepped outside, his wife hugging him.

"Preston, why didn't you-"

"Don't even try." He growled as he pushed away his wife, feeling a storm brewing in his mind.

And it wouldn't be too many years later when his daughter would find out that Woofless was truly her dad's best friend Rob, and that those storms were metaphorical for depression, which still ate away at her father often. And she took it upon herself to promise her father that it wasn't his fault that his precious Woofless was lost at sea when it was no longer his. And this is the story of Captain Frags of the TBNR squad.
