"Do you think it's her?"

I shrugged and rubbed my forehead. "I'm pretty sure, but I'm also not so sure. Does that even make sense?"

Tyler snorted and sat down next to me on the couch. "Just go. It wouldn't hurt to just go there and see if it's her. If it is, great. If it's not, well, then you're going to have to do some hardcore stalking to find her."

I laughed and shook my head. "That would never happen. But here's to hoping it is where I've seen her. If it's not, I can say I tried at least." With that, I stood up and found the keys to my truck. "Don't burn the place down while I'm gone."

Tyler just grinned at me. "Would I ever?"

"Um, yeah. The last time you wanted s'mores—"

"That was one time!" He defended.

I shook my head again and headed for the door.

When I made it inside my truck, I started it and left the apartment complex. I was nervous to say the least. Not a lot, but still, anxious nerves gave me chills.

While I was on my way to the bakery, I felt a rock of nervousness settle at the bottom of my stomach. When I neared, I parked on the curb a few shops down and hopped out. As I walked, I took in a few several breathes and released them slowly. I just wanted it to be where I've seen her so I don't dwell on this for months.

I came to a stop in front of the bakery door and pause.

There was a girl behind the counter with flour on her cheek and a smile on her face.

It was her.

Lucy.

But she wasn't alone.

All I had to do was act normal and not the spaz my heart tells me I am. So without thinking twice, I pulled the door open and the bell above jingled to signal I was there. My heart skipped when she looked up.

I walked up to the counter and said, "Hey." I took a look at the red velvet cupcakes sitting on the counter in front of her before finding her gaze again. "Oh, hey. Lucy, right?"

See? I can do casual encounter.

Lucy nodded her head, but didn't say anything.

"I didn't know you worked here," I went on. "I used to come here when I was little. Best vanilla cupcakes I've ever had." That definitely wasn't a lie either. I did come here a lot when I was little. The vanilla cupcakes were always my favorite.

"My family owns it actually," Lucy finally spoke. "Is there anything I could get you?"

I thought quickly. "Uh, yeah. A coffee, please."

Lucy moved to the spot behind her and grabbed a white mug hanging from one of the hooks. She poured the coffee into the cup and brought it back to the counter.

"What do I owe you?" I asked and started for my wallet.

"First one's on me," she answered and her lips curved into a smile. "And if you'd like to wait a few minutes, I'll throw in a vanilla cupcake."
