A Highschool Secret

Chapter 19

"That is because I have to look the part." Lani spoke from behind Garrett.

Garrett looked behind him in surprise.

"What do you mean 'look the part'?" He inquired after he regained his composure.

"My mom made me become friends with Kristianna because that would give our family more connections in the business world which would, in turn, make us more money. When Kristianna found out that I was good friends with Lisa, she threatened to cut off my family if I didn't help her humiliate Lisa and give up our "silly" friendship." Lani explained.

"So in other words, she blackmailed you into breaking off your friendship with Lisa. Is that correct?" Garrett asked.

"Ya that about sums it up." Lisa said.

"Wow, what a douche, and to think I even found her pretty." He shivers at the thought.

"Anyways let's get back to the problem at hand. What are we gonna do about Kristianna? We can't let this go on forever. My rep is already bad I don't want to make it worse." Lisa said returning everybody's attention back to the problem at hand.

"Yes but the bell is about to ring so we should probably all get back to class." Garrett replied

Just then the warning bell rand out signaling that students only had 5 more minutes to get to class, and with that they all went their separate ways.

*during class*

"Now, I hope you all are preparing for your test over the Bill of Rights!" Mrs. Hartwell exclaimed excitedly while fixing the worksheet sh just picked up.

Lisa looked over at Garrett silently hoping he would feel her gaze and look at her. Much to her dismay h didn't seem to notice.

The bell rang and dismissed them from class.

*time skip to lunch*

Lisa set her backpack down in her usual spot and went to get her lunch.

Upon her arrival after getting her lunch she noticed 3 unfamiliar backpacks that had joined hers and Haley's back packs. She shrigged I off and sat down. She was soon joined by Haley, who kept her head down with a guilty look plastered on her face.

"Hey what's wrong? You've been avoiding me all day." Lisa asked softly while placing a gentle hand on Haley's shoulder.

Haley shook her friend's hand off and continued to ignore her.

"Wanna know why she's ignoring you?" Garrett's voice spoke behind her.

She looked back at him with a questioning look. Silently telling him to continue. He nodded and continued.

"Kristianna may have started the rumor but she got all the info from your friend here."

Lisa looked back at Haley in complete shock.

"Is this true?"

"Yes." Haley mumbled her head down with a look of shame present on her face.

Shock, horror, and anger welled up in her face as she stared at her friend in disbelief.

"How could you? How could you betray me like that? I thought we were friends!" Her voice escalating after each word until sje was full out yelling.

Her out burst received some glances from the other students. Most were just shrugged off though.

Lisa opened her mouth to say something but stopped when a hand was placed on her shoulder. She was so blinded by her rage that she did not notice Haley had started crying.
