Since you were American and it was the 4th of July you took your clueless, Australian boyfriend to your parents 4th celebration. He had no idea why we were celebrating in the middle of summer.
"Babe why are we celebrating?" He muttered once he got you alone.
"It's the day we won our independence from Europe." I muttered back. He smiled at my aunt that had just arrived to Luke's confusion.
"Its time for the fireworks." She said. Luke gulped. He has only seen fireworks once in his life, and he didn't like them. But he wanted to be strong for you and he was not about to let you know he was afraid of them.
"Don't worry the fireworks aren't that big." You patted his chest, and pulled him outside and found an empty chair that he gratefully sat down in. You looked around for another seat, and realizing there wasn't one, sat on Luke's lap. Your dad lit the sparklers, cause that's the extent of the fireworks you got. Luke sighed in relief.
"The big ones are coming. We are going to a fireworks show." You said kissing his cheek. You could tell he was scared.
"Luke don't worry we can cuddle under a blanket in the trunk." You said. He giggled.
"Ok." We drove up to the field that the fireworks would be shot at.
"We're just going to stay in here." You said as Luke popped open the trunk of his car, and pulled the back seats down. He climbed in, and you climbed in next to him, snuggling up against his shoulder. He leaned back and grabbed the blanket, wrapping it completely around the two of you.
"Look at them their so cute." Mom said glancing at us watching the field from the trunk of Luke's car. Luke blushed.
"Lukey I'm cold." You whispered so only he could hear. He nodded and pulled you onto his lap, shifting the blanket again so it covered both of you. Then the fireworks started. Luke jumped and hid his face in your shoulder.
"It's so loud baby." He said his arms tightening around you.
"It's ok it's not going to hurt anyone." You grinned kissing his red cheek. After the fireworks you talked to your family for awhile before heading back to your apartment with Luke.
