We all thought him getting a scholarship to Howard would keep him out of this stuff but for some reason he keeps slipping into this dark hole
This week was going by a lot faster than expected.
It was already Thursday and after practically begging my parents, they were definitely on for the game on Saturday. I couldn't be more happy and excited because even though my parents weren't all for my dancing, I still thought that maybe them seeing me in the front for once would change their skeptism on the whole ordeal. Practice, despite the little hiccup that occurred on the first day went by good and well these last couple of days. I was still leading stands, and our halftime routine was absolutely beautiful. It was starting to seem like everything was looking okay. Carmen's little threat that attempted to scare me with had yet to actually do anything, so I was fine. Practice had ended, and usually I'd leave with the girls, but Colby insisted that he takes me out for a late 'dinner.'
The downfalls of being with someone who was just as busy as you was the fact that there was never really time for dates. We had practice all week, and Saturdays were usually busy with preparing for games. Sundays were there, yes, but then again tiredness was always a factor on that day. So, when Colby insisted that we go out for dinner after practice, I found myself happily saying yes.
Ever since our confession last Sunday, I've been on edge waiting for just when and where he was going to ask me out. Whenever I inquired him about it, he would always do a good job on avoiding giving me any details. I was getting a little anxious, and with my parents coming on Saturday, I wanted to at least have a title for the two of us.
I wasn't planning on introducing Colby to my parents anytime soon because for one, it just seemed to early. Based on the multiple boyfriend tags I've watched on YouTube, the boy always met the parents at around the three month mark. Besides, Colby would be the first dude I ever brought home, so that itself was a little nerve wrecking.
"What are you thinking about?" Colby questioned.
He had borrowed Leo's car for the sole purpose of this date and he was driving me into town for a casual dinner. I say casual because we literally hopped from practice into the car. Of course, we spent a little bit of time showering a changing out of our clothes, but we would still be rather under dressed for a nice restaurant. Colby, a DC native himself, informed me that he knew a casual place that we could eat at without it being too 'weak' of him as he mentioned.
"Nothing important really. Just school." I responded. I didn't want to tell him about my slight insecurities relationship wise so I kind of just pushed that behind me. Colby didn't act on my silence, and instead pulled into a parking spot at a Mexican restaurant. Obviously Colby paid attention during one of our many late night conversations on the phone for I recall telling him that my favorite food was Mexican food. I wasn't going to lie, I was actually a little hype that he remembered, but more hype because it's been a minute since I've had a good authentic taco platter.
