Monday came around, and now the next thing on our mind was Thanksgiving break. However, for us dancers, we had to worry about the next game. It was a home game, thankfully, but we were playing the illustrious Alabama State University and their Stingette dance team. It was only ten o'clock in the morning, and Martina was already sending out warnings and reminders that practice this week was not going to be a game. It wasn't normally that we focused our attention on the dancers, but the Stingettes and Bisonettes have been rivals for as long as I could remember.

The Stingettes were another HBCU dance team, so they had the same style, idea, and craftmanship that we did. When we went against PWI, it wasn't hard for us to stand out.Our uniforms itself was enough to show a difference between the two dance teams. And other times, the HBCU dance teams we were placed against were definitely not anything for us to trip about.

But the Stingettes were different.

Way  different, and I was already popping pills to make sure I could handle the soreness that would come from today's practice.

However, I couldn't help but be excited for our Thanksgiving break. Samir had found a nice hotel at a decent price, and we were both willing to pitch in when it came to that. It had an indoor pool, and it was in the heart of Hoover, Alabama, much like I had told him I wanted. He was excited for the trip, more so because he didn't have to sit with old folks all Thanksgiving. I had the perfect plan for how I was going to get him to my childhood home as well.

I would trick him into thinking that we were going to visit a 'family friend' or something along those lines. Technically, it wasn't a lie. I'm sure there would be a few family friends at the Whitehead household when we arrived, so if he blew up in anger, I could always use that against him. Once getting him in the house, it shouldn't be too hard to find my mother and father and force somewhat of an intervention. I couldn't really expect what the inital reaction would be from each parties--Samir could change his mind, and be extremely thankful that I brought the four of us together, and my father could change his mind once he saw his first born and only son. It could go extremely well, or Samir could blow up and say some pretty hurtful things, which in return will lead my father to use those examples against him for the rest of our lives.

Hopefully, the latter options wouldn't happen, and we could have a nice, peaceful, Thanksgiving.

The sound of paper landing on my desk shook me from my thoughts, and I glanced down at the graded quiz in front of me.

An eighty nine percent.

Of course, an A would've been better, but this would have to do. Since Sonny didn't want to tutor me anymore (which was much to my pleasure), I had to rely on countless YouTube videos of teachers doing similar problems. I was more of a hands on learner, so I was a little disappointed that I had to resort to videos, but obviously, it was working. My grade has been slowly going up in Statistics, and I was staying up late at night sometimes to retake tests and quizzes that were bringing my grade down. If I continued to be consistent with this, who knows--I might actually pass this class.
