Two weeks later and Sage, along with the rest of the Bison crew were celebrating yet another success. It was May 20th, the Friday that Colby would be in New York attending the NBA draft pick. Unfortunately, Colby was only able to seize two tickets, and of course, they went to Dominic and Mama Donna. The whole entire gang got together once again, huddled into what would be Colby's old apartment come the end of June. The TV right now, was on ESPN playing reruns of old football games, but as soon as the clock hit six o'clock, they'd be displaying the draft pick right there on the TV. Tanisha came along to witness greatness as well, driving all the way from Lincoln Heights to deal with a bunch of immature ass eighteen to twenty two year olds. Adele was sprawled out on the couch, still very much pregnant, and very much moody. Her due date was approaching in June, and Sage was hoping the baby would be here on her birthday, June 21st, creating an everlasting bond between the two Geminis. Adele, however, was against this and spoke many times that she did not want 'no two-faced ass baby.' Leo didn't care about the birthday of the baby, he was stuck with the difficult decision of choosing a name. Sure, he had wanted the task, but as the time approached, names came and went like seasons.
Alisha and Claire were still going strong as well. They'd celebrated countless anniversaries together, and now that school was officially over for the summer, the two were hoping to gather enough money to visit Cancun, Mexico--by themselves much to the annoyance of the rest of the crew.
Much like Sage had expected, Samir and Nia were officially a couple. They couldn't seem to keep their hands off of each other, and whenever Sage complained about the excess PDA, everyone felt the need to attack her, comparing Namir's growing relationship to the one that Colby and Sage had in the beginning. So, of course, when they tossed that comparison out into the open, it definitely shut Sage and her complaints up.
Samir was definitely in a happier place right now. With the way things were looking, the family unit that Sage had been emphasizing since the two met were looking up. In fact, a barbecue was in the works for Memorial Day, and the Whiteheads' had invited both Samir and Coach Liz down to Alabama to join them for a barbecue. Samir, though he liked to act like the tough guy, was highkey excited about being around his father despite the many years he has been absent for. He was open to learning more about the other side of the family, much like his dad was open to learning more about Samir and his family.
Hopefully, the barbecue would go as planned.
Renel and Vance were still there, goofing around as usual. The only difference was now, Vance was the only single one. Renel met a girl early January, and had kept her a secret from the rest of the crew for the longest, until he invited her out into the open one night after a casual outing. Her name was Maria, and she was of Dominican heritage, according to her. She was one of the many Dominicans that could pass as fully black until she began speaking fluent Spanish.
Renel wanted her to attend the viewing of Colby's drafting, but she had already booked her flight to visit family in Florida. Renel, however, insisted on FaceTiming her as soon as she landed in Fort Lauderdale and since he entered into the dorm, that's what he's been doing. Vance, clearly not oblivious to the fact that he was the only single person, spoke constantly about the need to get 'put on.' Of course, Sage jumped at the idea claiming she knew a few girls who would jump to have Vance around. Vance, however, was picky and turned down all the offers that she presented his way.
"Shit, we ran out of chips." Renel's voice rang through the apartment as he displayed the empty bag of Lays potato chips in his hand. "Go get some then, why are you telling us?" Sage mentioned, pausing to look up from her phone to respond to Renel's statement. Sage had been typing away on her phone since Colby left DC two days ago, and now, the typing seemed to increase as it got closer and closer to the draft pick time.
