The feeling of an empty bed woke me up the next morning

The feeling of an empty bed woke me up the next morning.

It was Saturday, and based off of the time on the digital clock next to me, it was nearing nine in the morning. Sighing, I stretched out my arms as my eyes adjusted to the bright rays that were being emitted into the room by the wide windows. Not too far in front of me was Colby. He was getting dressed, and his back muscles flexed as he pulled an Under Armor t-shirt over his body. He was definitely a sight to see.

"Good morning." I spoke. Colby stopped mid brush of his hair, and turned and faced me. "Oh my bad. Did I wake you up?" He questioned. I shook my head. "No, I was going to wake up anyway." I responded, sitting up on the bed. The hotel room was cold, but for some reason the casual shirt I had slept in stuck to my body. It wasn't until now that it occurred to me that this was essentially the first time Colby had ever seen me in the morning. Instantly, a sense of panic fell over me as I grabbed my phone from the counter and checked my reflection in the mirror. My hair was a mess--I didn't sleep in a bonnet, but other than that, I looked decent. Relaxing, I took this time to lean back in bed, and soak of the comfortable comforter the hotel provided.

"You're getting ready for practice?" I questioned Colby. He sighed and nodded. "Unfortunately. I would much rather be sleeping but Vance and I are going to go shoot some free throws before practice." Colby clarified. As much as I wanted to just keep him here with me, we both knew that in the next couple of hours or so, we would both be busy as hell preparing for this game.

"Thanks for last night, by the way." Colby spoke.

I smiled, thinking back to just a couple hours ago. We didn't do anything extra, just watched TV and ate the pizza I provided. When we were both tired enough to go to sleep, we stayed up a little longer talking about everything underneath the Sun. In the end, we ended up falling asleep at three o'clock. However, waking up now, it didn't seem like I only got four hours of sleep. I suppose it was just my body getting used to my college sleeping schedule.

"No problem. We should do again sometime." I responded, hopping out of the bed, and slipping on my shoes. I headed to the bathroom, and attempted to smooth my hair (as much as I could without hair products) back into a ponytail. I needed to make my way back to my hotel room before Coach Liz walked around and accounted for everyone. Even though I promised Colby I wouldn't hide our relationship anymore, I didn't want to deal with the wrath that Coach Liz would place on me if she found out I spent the night in Colby's room.

"Come and see me before the game, alright?" I asked Colby, walking towards him as he made his way towards the door. "Of course, baby. See you later, okay?" Colby replied, before we embraced each other and he was out the door.

I exited soon after him, dragging my feet as I made it back to our hotel room. I could hear the sounds of voices and what-not, and it only told me that Nia was up. I wasn't sure if Adele and Alisha went back to their rooms early this morning, but I could only find out. We had a lot of fun last night--the four of us and it was almost we didn't have issues. I'm sure it would probably be the same thing today. None of us wanted to mess up game day for the others, so we would (hopefully) put our issues behind each other. We still needed to talk about the whole situation, but just not now.
