Camila...
"Dearly beloved," The preacher raised a hand to point at the casket down in front of him. "We are gathered here today to celebrate Camila's home going."
His voice faded in and out as I sat on the front row in the church, staring at my own body.
Was I really dead?
My body looked so cold and pale. I didn't look like myself; It upset me.
Tears streamed down my face as I looked to my right side. Zoelle and Zoovier were siting next to me.
"Daddy, why is mommy still sleeping?" Zoelle pouted.
"Because, she...." Zoovier voice cracked before he stopped to sigh.
"Mommy wake up. Wake up!" Zoelle yelled.
I reached out to hold her. "Mommy's okay. I'm right here, Zo'." I sniffled.
But my hands went right through her little body. I couldn't pick her up.
When Zoelle started to throw a tantrum because I wouldn't "wake up", Zoovier picked her up and started to make his way out.
I got up to follow them but it seemed as if I was glued to my seat.
"Zoo!" I yelled after him. "Zoovier!" I screamed. I repeated myself for a couple of times before I grew tired.
They couldn't hear me at all. No one around me could hear me screaming and yelling.
I suddenly gasped and opened my eyes, revealing that I was actually in the hospital.
I began to panic. "My baby," I panted and I pulled the covers off of my stomach.
"My ba–" I paused once I saw that my stomach was still big and round.
I looked to my left and saw multiple teddy bears, balloons, and other various gifts sitting on a small table.
"Thank you, Jesus." I whispered to myself as I looked up at the ceiling.
I heard a couple of knocks on my room's door.
Shortly afterwards, my best friend Brianna walked in.
"Bri!" I smiled. "I'm glad to see you." I truthfully spoke.
"Why are you crying?" Brianna asked me. She came over to my bedside, wiping tears off of my cheeks.
"I'm crying?" I asked. I had no idea that I was crying. "I didn't know I was."
"Let me ask you again– why are you crying?" Brianna repeated her question from a couple of seconds earlier.
"I was dreaming that I- I died. I was sitting on the front row in the church at my own funeral. And when Zoelle started to cry for me, she threw a fit and Zoovier carried her out.
I called out for them but they couldn't hear me. Literally no one could hear me screaming."
"Damn, Mila. I couldn't imagine having to see that." Brianna sighed. She ran her hand through her hair.
Then, she sat down on a chair that was next to my bed.
"Where's Zoelle and Zoovier? Where are my babies?" I questioned. My eyebrow was cocked to the side.
"How do you feel? Are you feeling okay?"
"I'm not answering that until you tell me where Zoo and Zo' are." I responded, crossing my arms across my chest.
"Zoelle is with Zoovier's parents and..." She trailed off.
"Where is my boyfriend?" I asked with a hint of attitude in my voice.
"Your baby fine. Nice and healthy. It's a miracle that that bastard missed him." She said.
Brianna placed a hand on my stomach and began to rub it.
"Brianna!" I snapped. "Stop beating around the bush with my damn question. Where is my boyfriend?" I growled through gritted teeth.
".....Jail." Brianna looked down at her feet. "He's been in there for about a month now."
"Wha- a month? I couldn't have been a month." I shook my head at her. "I've only been in here for–"
"A month." She interrupted my statement.
"Hell no." I glared at her. "Bitch stop playin' with me." I laughed.
"I'm not." She giggled. "Camila, real shit– you were in a coma for a month and two weeks."
I gasped. "Oh my god. So you're telling me that I've been in this damn hospital for a month and two weeks? I'm eight months and two weeks pregnant."
Then it all hit me. "I have to get my baby out of jail! I bet this is all in the news and shit. Fuck, it's all my fault." I whined, covering my face with my hands.
"No it's not Camila. You had a restraining order placed against that motherfucker so he had no business being at your house anyways." Brianna rolled her neck.
"But the police aren't letting Zoo out of custody until they speak to you or Zoelle. And Zoelle is too scared to speak." She added.
"Aw, my poor baby." I poked my bottom lip out. "Who do I call to get the police up here to speak?" I asked.
"I'll get 'em up here." Brianna perked up. She got up from her seat and said, "I'll be back."
