Toby's POV
Spencer seemed really off and nervous then she just left. I was about to go and find her when she appeared out of nowhere.
"There you are," I said.
"Yeah," she said. She seemed to be looking for something. Or someone.
"Did you lose something?" I asked.
"What?" She asked, confused.
"Your looking for something. What?"
"A girl." She replied.
"Okay... What does she look like? Maybe I can help you find her?" I offered.
She finally looked at me in the eye. "I think I'm good, thanks," and then she left.
I watched her go, thinking she might need some space.
I sat back down in my chair, still confused.
"What's up with Spencer?" Aria asked me.
"I don't know." I said, slowly.

Lilli's POV

At first I was surprised how respectful my adoptive parents were about me needing to find my birth mother. I'm only 15 so for my birthday they gave me this trip to California to find her.
I wasn't entirely sure why I had shared that information with Spencer, I guess I felt a connection or something. She seemed nice and I didn't think she judged me.

I spotted her looking for something so I walked over to help her find it. "Hey," I said.
"You!" She said, rather suddenly.
"Me?" I asked.
"Yes, I've been looking for you," she answered.
"Why?" I asked.
There was a pause before she replied. "I think you need to stop looking for your birth mother."
"What?! Why?!" I can't believe this girl who I barley know had the nerve to tell me that.
"Because..." She looked around. "I just think that they gave you up for a reason  and maybe that reason was really important to everything they have built in life and if you walk into their block tower,  it would crumble on top of you,"
"So, you're saying that they probably don't want me?" I asked.
"Well, I don't know for sure, but maybe you should let them find you," she said.
I shook my head angrily and turned on my heels to go find my parents.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"To find my parents!" I yelled back at her.
"Which ones?"
"Both!" I yelled, finally stopping to look at her. "Why do you even care?"
"Because I care about you," she said, genuine.
"Why?!" I demanded.
She didn't answer and finally said. "You know what? Never Mind. Go find your birth parents! But if they don't want you, I'll be here to say I told you so." Now it was her time to leave.
"Wait!" I called after her.
She stopped and turned.
"What's the real reason?" I asked.
"The real reason for what?"
"The real reason why you care about me?" I was so close to crying.
"I don't know anything for sure." Was all she said.
"Will you help me?" I asked.
"Help you what?"
"Find my birth parents." I wasn't sure why I was asking the girl who told me to forget about my birth parents to help me find them but I knew her answer already.
"Yes."
