Chapter 6 - Leprechauns in LA
We walked out of the airplane and immediately the hot California weather hit me. Why is it so hot here? "I never thought America would be this hot", Jack complained next to me, "Well it is, welcome to LA", I said to him. He rolled his eyes, "Isn't America supposed to be cold with a lot of snow?", he asked me. I raised my eyebrow at him, really Jack? Snow in LA? Then I remembered he never was in America before. "For snow you have to go to the North", I said to him. He mumbled something under his breath I couldn't understand.
I simply rolled my eyes at him, typical Jack.
"Well, I'm lucky there isn't snow here because I hate snow", he mumbled, "If you hate snow then why did you went to Antarctica last year?" I asked him curious. He narrowed his eyes at me, "Charity work, it had something to do with a whale", he explained. I nodded, "Did you saw penguins?", I asked remembering his fear for those creatures, "Yes", he replied with a horrified expression.
I laughed, call me a bad friend but I just can't help it. I clutched my sides and Jack gave me an irritated expression, he gave me one of the deathliest glares ever. If looks could kill I was death any second now.
"Let's go", he mumbled and walked towards the exit. I rolled my eyes and followed him. If you were wondering we didn't bring any stuff with us. Only our phones and wallets. We can buy food somewhere, LA is a big place, "So, where is the portal to the Underworld exactly?" I asked when I walked next to Jack. He furrowed his eyebrows, clearly thinking, "If I'm right it's close to the Lotus Hotel", he said after a while. I nodded.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked next. I could see that Jack grew a bit irritated with me, "Really Niall? Can't you think for yourself?", he said and looked at me, "We have to find the portal of course", he added with a roll of his eyes. I grinned sheepishly, oh yeah.
I really need to think for myself someday.

Jack's POV (this is rare...)
It was forty degrees, maybe more, and we must've looked like deep-fried vagrants, people who passed us didn't pay us any attention, luckily. How much I miss Ireland at the moment...
I need to cool off for a while. I'm really in need for a glass of lemonade, and I'm also a bit hungry so maybe also a sandwich. We must have taken a wrong turn, because we found ourselves at a death end, standing in front of the Lotus Hotel and Casino. Maybe we didn't take the wrong turn.
The entrance was a huge neon flower, the petals lighting up and blinking. No one was going in or out, but the glittering chrome doors were open, spilling out air conditioning that smelled like flowers, lotus blossom maybe. I'd never smelled one, do I wasn't sure. The doorman smiled at us, "Hey kids, you look tired. Want to come in and sit down?", he offered friendly. I'd learned to be suspicious but there was something about this man that made me trust him, so we nodded and headed inside.
We took one look around and Niall gasped, I don't really blame him.
The whole lobby was a giant game room. And I'm not talking about cheesy old Pac-Man games or slot machines. There was an indoor water slide snaking around the glass elevator, which went straight up at least forty floors. There was a climbing wall on the side of one building, and an indoor bungee-jumping bridge. There were virtual-reality suits with working laser guns. And hundreds of video games, each one the size of a windscreen TV. Basically you name it, this place had it. I already love this place. Best part? There were waitresses and snack bars all around, serving every kind of food you can imagine.
