Arrested
~
Amy began to feel slightly nervous as the minutes dragged on and she found herself shaking as she desperately tried to get Rodney’s to open his eyes.
“Come on, come on,” she whispered, gently slapping his cheeks.
“Owwww,” he moaned, attempting to roll away from her. Amy held him in place, her iron grip tight on his shoulders.
“Quit being a baby, Rod,” she muttered, grinning as he rolled his eyes.
“It’s quite hard not to be, when a heavy lump is parked on top of you,” he groaned, wincing as she swung her leg over his body. He moaned causing his eyes to shoot open and stare wide-eyed at her. “Shit,” he mumbled.
“What?”
“Get off!”
“Why?”
“I want to sleep ...”
“Rodney. Shut up.”
He growled quietly and finally gave up, resting his head back against the floor. “You’re going to be the death of me, I swear.”
“Touché,” Amy replied winking.
“Shut up.”
“Harsh.”
“Amy,” he warned.
“Fine, fine,” she said, throwing her arms up in mock defeat.
Rodney took the opportunity and slid from Amy’s reach.
“I need to turn,” he whispered, closing his eyes and leaning back against the bed.
Amy sighed and shifted her body nearer to his. “I know,” she whispered. “But you’ll be alright even if you don't.”
Rodney’s head snapped to face hers and she saw an angry glint flash through his blue orbs. “Don’t kid yourself Amy. This is my home, anywhere else I won't ever feel complete.”
Amy shook her head.
Rodney sighed and glanced away, lying back down on the floor. “I'll basically a dead man walking - living a half-life,” he whispered, tears stinging in the corners of his eyes.
Amy watched him carefully as he clutched his arms tightly around himself like a baby and muttering an array of curses. “I hate life,” he muttered. “It just seems to make it as difficult as possible.”
Chuckling, Amy lay down beside him. “But if life gives you a thousand reasons to cry then show the world that you have millions of reasons to smile. Trust me; you have so many great things in your life.”
“Like what?!” he snapped. “No parents? No hope of becoming a vampire? Because the last time I checked they weren’t exactly positive!”
“You’ve got me and Robert,” Amy whispered, sliding her hand into his.
Sighing, Rodney lowered his head to the ground and closed his eyes.
They remained silent for a few moments, when suddenly Rodney lifted his head again. “Turn me.”
