An Interesting Revelation

 ~

Erik rolled his eyes at his wife, before turning to his gathering of followers. He didn’t see the importance of saving this girl, it wasn’t as if she’d be able to do anything better than he could. He was the most powerful vampire of his generation, and this girl surely couldn’t be anything special. It was almost enough to make him laugh; a girl better than him? Impossible.

Melissa addressed the people before her, ignoring the irritated gaze from her husband. "Vampires, as you are all very aware, we have been preparing for a war in order to take over the school ... releasing ... Solon from his power. Our attack was going to take place a month from today, but it seems as if that date needs to be brought forward," she began. Robert's jaw dropped and he stared at the Vampire in front of him; they were planning an attack on the school? Since when? He couldn't let the Rogues get to the school; they would ruin the place and make the younglings corrupted and merciless. He had to do something ... but what? "My daughter has been captured by the enemy and we need her. Amy has something that can help us win this war. Now who's with me?" Melissa continued, looking around.

The room had fallen silent and all eyes were fixed on Erik, who was pacing back and forth, his hands clenched into fists. Finally, he stopped walking and turned to his wife with challenging eyes. "What exactly has Amy got that we need?"

Melissa's eyes sparkled and her lips formed a curve as she smiled at him. "She has the power that both of us hold, but it is twice as strong because she is our daughter."

Erik's eyes widened. "You mean she has the knowledge?" he whispered. Melissa nodded her head, and he looked slightly amazed by the revelation.

"What's the knowledge?" called a voice from the crowd.

Melissa turned to the man who had spoken and made her way towards him. "The knowledge," she began, "is a force of both complete control in reading others thoughts and the ability to talk back to them, influencing another's actions. Whichever side the one with the knowledge falls to will have a greater advantage, therefore it is vital that she is on our side."

Robert found himself shaking his head, which didn't go unnoticed. "It's not going to work," he said, instantly regretting his sudden bravery. Melissa's head snapped towards him and she hissed, her grey eyes flashing red.

"What?" she growled, advancing towards him. Robert backed away quickly, but Erik appeared behind him and grabbed hold of his arms, stopping him from being able to run. "What did you say?" she hissed.

Gulping, Robert looked straight into her eyes and glared at her. "I said your plan isn't going to work."

Both Erik and Melissa chuckled, smiling at each other. "And why is that, human?" Erik said with a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Because Amy hasn't got either of those powers," Robert replied.

"And what would you know about the powers that Amy holds?" Melissa chided, glaring at him. "What do you really know about Amy? She could be hiding so many things from you, what about that boy she likes? Caellum?"

Robert's head dropped and Melissa smiled, enjoying the pain she was causing him. "That's what I thought. You don't really know her; you mean nothing to her."
