(A/N) Since the last one was disgustingly awful this one will actually have more of a legit plot and reason as to why they kiss lmao gomen
I like it way more tbh

The ball hit the tape at the top of the net, a small slapping sound resonating out as the ball thumped to the ground as its energy died out. Bokuto threw his head back, crying out in frustration. "Gah! I give up!" He pouted, dragging his feet to the benches, scooping up a water bottle and drinking from it.

He left Akaashi standing by the cart in his setters position. He didn't understand why Bokuto insisted on practicing extra if he had been off during the regular practice hours. The volleyball rolled against his feet, and bent over. He scooped it up and placed it in the cart, moving forward towards Bokuto. He cleaned up balls before he ducked under the net and trotted over. He plopped down onto the bench.

"We can start again in a second." Akaashi said, unscrewing his water bottle cap. "But before that, I need to know what's wrong."

Bokuto fidgeted, staring at his hands grasped around the water bottle. He frowned deeply. "I dunno." He glanced up, twiddling his fingers, and returning his eyes to his cap.

Akaashi raised an eyebrow. "Bokuto-san, I know you very well. There is clearly something wrong." He folded his arms, crossing his ankles.

Bokuto glanced at him once again, but returned to hiding his eyes. Akaashi knew if he held eye contact long enough he'd break and spill.

"Bokuto-San..." He firmly called.

Bokuto finally completely lifted his head, but he still avoided eye contact at all costs. He shifted his body so that he faces Akaashi. "Yes, Akaashi-kun?" He mumbled, rather politely.

"Tell me. What's wrong with you? You've been off all day, and awful depressed." Akaashi said, huffing slightly.

"Oh, gomen, Akaashi."

Akaashi, normally straight faced, scrunched his nose in confusion and frustration. "What's up with you, really? You're never like this, not even when you're dejected on the court."

Bokuto shrugged. "I've just been.. Conflicted..."

Akaashi blinked, surprised by the choice of words. "And why? Are girls confessing to you again? You know you don't have to choose, you can always decline-"

"No, no not that Akaashi. I kinda wanted to confess to someone myself." Bokuto interrupted.

Akaashi paused, blinking slowly. A pang of sadness washed over him, as if jolted from a punch in the chest. "Oh..." He choked out, completely taken aback. "Alright. Well, why is it only bothering you today?" He managed.

Bokuto's eyes widened a bit. "Well... Kuroo told me today was National Kissing Day in Anerica. You know how we keep up with American trends... They're just so weird." He babbled, laughing nervously. "He said that it would be the perfect day to confess to my crush but I'm not ready at all." He looked Akaashi, his big dopey eyes wide and puppy like.

"Bokuto-san, if she feels-" Akaashi began slowly, feeling out the situation when Bokuto waved his hands through the air frantically.

"No, no, no, Akaashi, that's the thing!" He stammered.

Akaashi's eyebrows drew together. "Bokuto-san, what's the thing then?"

"Gah! Dammit Akaashi, you're oblivious." He grumbled, crossing his arms and facing forward once more.

"I'm oblivious?" Akaashi asked incredulously.

"Yeah, you are. Like you don't even realize I like you-" Bokuto stopped covering his mouth quickly.

"What?" Akaashi blinked.

"What?"

"Did you just-"

"No. Yes. Maybe." Bokuto shook his head and shrugged, pressing his face into his hands.

Akaashi leaned back a bit, absorbing the information Bokuto accidentally dropped on him. "Baka."

"What?" Bokuto turned his head back.

"I don't know why you waited so long." Akaashi rolled his eyes, scooting closer to Bokuto. "I thought you were straight as a line." He muttered, cupping Bokuto's cheek. His eyes searching lightly in the bright hopeful orbs of Bokuto, before tilting his head and stealing a taste of his lips.

Their salty sweat coated their lips, and Akaashi pulled back. "Now we've both gotten kisses for this stupid American day."
